THEIR WOODEN WEDDING.
He wu idealistic and poetical. She
was practical—a good matrimonial
combination. He came home one
evening after a hard day at the office
aMaaid:
‘TEarla, my dear, do yon realize that
tomorrow will be our wooden wed
ding? We ought to celebrate the oc
casion somehow, don't you think?"
And she said: "Hank, my darling,
I know it Been thinking about it all
day and have it all arranged. I hare
ordered a big wagon load of kindling
wood to be delivered tomorrow after
noon, and you will come home early
from the office and carry it into the
cellar."
Ie There Any Difference ?
"I have read this book,” said the
irate patron, "and it is the worst ever.
It has the average penny dreadful
looking like a Sunday school tract
and yet you gave It to me when 1
asked you for a historical romance.”
"Oh,” gurgled the fair librarian, "I
thought you asked me for a hysterical
romancel ” —Judge.
SERIOUS.
She—And is there no danger?
He —One takes just about the same
chances one would getting married.

“The songs you and your daughters
sing and the daring costumes you
wear!” exclaimed the serious woman.
"Yes." replied Mrs. McGudley, "we
don’t like ’em much ourselves, but we
feel it’s our duty to make home at
tractive and keep father away from
those extravaganza shows.”
Flora McFHmsey.
“Come over this evening and bring
your wife.”
“I can’t, she hasn't a dress fit to
wear.”
"Why, my wife says she has gowns
in all the latest styles.”
"I know, but that is the only kind of
gowns she has got"
The Compromise.
Wow did Jack and Mabel agree over
their dispute about the marriage serv

“Mabel told Jack if he would make

Buying for Two.
A poor woman called at a public
house the other day and asked for a
quart of porter. It was measured off
and put into her gallon jug. She then
asked for another quart, to be put into
the same vessel.
“And why not ask for half a gallon
and be done with it?"
“Och, bless your soul, It's for two
persons."
Matter Net Mentioned.
"In the stone age,” said Mr. Meek
ton, in tones that trembled a little, "a
man proposed by hitting a woman with
a hammer.”
"YesV replied his wife, with a
steely glare, “but they are careful not
to say what happened after they went
to housekeeping and the woman got
her hands on a few crude but hefty
cooking utensils.”
Hie Revenge.
"Come on up to the house for din
ner, old mam.”
"No, not tonight Your wife won’t
like It"
“That’s just why I want you to
come. Whenever she’s done anything
I don’t like I always get even by ta
king some one she doesn't expect
home to dinner.”
NOT PARTICULAR.
"Do you think your sister would
like to slide downhill with me?"
“Surest thing, you know. She’s so
fond of sliding downhill, she don’t care
who she's with.”
