Miss Annie Hyat of Soperton,
candidate in the Dublin Herald
contest, was in to*n yesterday.
A crowd of young folks spent
a pleasant evening at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Sears on
last Thursday.

On returning from Towns Sun
day afternoon last, Messrs 0. L.
Lancaster and Grady Walters
had the misfortune to break the
axle on car they were driving,
and forced to leave the car and
caught the first train home.

Mr. W C Holder, out on Glenwood
route three, was in town today. Mr.
Holder brought us a sample of hie
turnip crop, which were as fine as any

Grady M. Walters spent several
days of this week with friends at
Towns. They drove through in

Mr. E. G. Cromartie, repre
senting the Ocmu ge« Lumber
Company of Lumber City, is here
and is thinking of putting in a
lumber yard at this point.
Mr. E. J. Ennis was this week
sworn in as night policeman on
the Alamo force. He moved his
family over from Stuckey this
week and will reside with us in
the future.
Mr. J, D Keen of Dublin, this
week bought from Mr. J. W.
Pope his house and lot, now oc
cupied by Mr. G. M. Elkins and
family. This is some of the most
desirable property in town.
Rev. J. E. Summer is spend
ing several days in town this
week, visiting among his memb
ers. He will fill his appointment
Sunday, preaching at 11:15 and
7:00.

Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Stoney of
Lena, S. C., spent a few days of
this week with relatives here and
at Helena. Mrs. Stoney will be
pleasantlv remembered here by
her many friends as Miss Estelle
Rogers. They will return home
tomorrow and be accompanied
by Mrs. Carrie Rogers, mother
of Mrs. Stoney.
Revival Services at
Baptist Church.
On last Sunday morning revival
services were begud at the Missionary
Baptist church here, Rev. Hunt being
assisted by Rev. J. A. J. Dumas of
Vidalia. Services ase being held morn
ing and evening. Rev. Dumas is
preaching some fine sermons. Tonight
will close the series. So far five accea.
siona have been made to the church.

The Board of Education of Alamo
offers for sale to the highest and best
bidder fer cash Severn Thousand, Five
Hundred ($7,500.00 Dollars of School
Bonds. These bonds are issued under
authority of an Act of the Legislatnre
and have been validated by the Supe
rior Court of Wheeler county, after
due advertisement and an election held
for that purpose. The Bonds are in
denominations of Five Hundred Dol
lars each and bear interest at 6 per
cent., payable semiannually in January
and July of each year, aad run for
thirty years, both principal and inter
est payable in gold coin of the United
States of standard weight and fineness
Anyone wishing to purchase these

The Town of Alamo also offers for
