Strong But Weak.
Here’s to the cup thy heart craveth,
Here’s to gray haired mothers in
bitter tears.
A son whom God our redeemer gaveth
to crush her life in later years.
Once he lay upon her pillow, huddled
up in mother’s arms.
A sweet and dimpled baby, smiling
face with many charms.
But now he’s strong, a grown up man,
and drinks his lipuors of different
brand. *
While wife and babies all alone.
Await his coming to his humble home.
But be sits in the corners of gambling
cfens,
Until hie seven year old boy enters
in.
Just a moment father, will you come
with me?
I’ve something at home I wish you
to see.
Alas, be follows this penitient child.
You have crushed the lives of your
babies and wife.
You have caused many others to moan.
Strong but feeble, weak oh, so
weak.
Helpless on God, his mercies to seek.
Just a moment please, is this your
aim?
If you are lost into Hell, whom will
you blame.
Why waste these precious moments
of time?
Drinking your Liquors, Brandies and
wine.
There is something for yon to do.
Some one is looking to you.
Where are thy charms and thy claim?
Haye you aught to your credit but
sin and shame?
Straight way are the gates of heaven,
But no drunkard shall enter there in
Will you live this life forever, in the
depth of remorse and sin?
Wake up and look where you stand.
Lost in God and lost in man.
Brighter days for you are in store,
Jesus is rapping upon your door, just
trust him only, do not wait.
Only seek him before it’s too late.

>| Wheeler Superior Court
Convened Monday.
' The March term of Wheeler:
superior court convened hefe
Monday morning with Judge;
' George of the Cordele circuit i
presiding, and Solicitor Wooten
, representing the state’s side of
the question. The fact that
Judge Graham was disqualified
in so many of the cases that
Judge George’s servtee was nec
essary to dispose of the business
that had accumulated, was oc
casioned by the fact that Judge
Graham had previously served
as solicitor general, and had
been connected with these cases
in that capacity which disquali
fied him from trying them.
After the grand jury had been
sworn in they retired and elected
W. J. Clark foreman, W. H. Spell
secretary and T. T, Davis bailiff,
then they returned to the court
room and received the charge,
which was one of the best the
people of this county have heard
in many days—clear and decisive,
and if adheared to will mean the
beginning and will lay the foun
dation of the best regulated law
abiding counties in the state.
Judge George referred to the
body as the right arm of the
government of the entire county.
He admonished them to search
dilligently into the affairs of the
county officers and stressed the
great importance of the author
ities losing no time in furnishing
the countv with suitable build
ings that the county’s business
could be transacted in a more
satisfactory way, and in the end
would be the best for the people.
He called special attentiin to
the importance of having good
roads, while he was not acquaint
ed with the system that is used
in this county, yet he expressed
a general desire that the best
system be adopted and that with
good roads the county would ad
vance faster, wherein without
them its progress would be
handicapped. Every suggestion
thrown out was worthy of care
ful consideration, and will have
its effect toward shaping better
influenc in the county.
The first day was largely taken
up in preliminaries incident to
entering into a heavy docket, and
most especially where the busi
ness was to be handled by one
not familiar with the working of
this court. Tuesday found the
court in good working shape and
everything has been moving off
with dispatch.

Commissioners Discuss
Court House Question
On last Tuesday the county
commissioners held their regu
lar monthly meeting. General
routine business was transacted,
and the advisability of steps be
ing taken toward providing
county buildings was discussed,
and a resolution was prepared
and presented to the grand jurv,
now in session, asking that they
include in their recommendations
some expression that will help to
solve the problem whieh we all
know is detrimental to the best
interest of the county. Thegrand
jury is made up of men from al)
sections of the county, and they
are in better position to know
what the people generally want
than the three commissioners
and this fact prompted the peti
tion. The prevailing sentiment
of the whole people is desired on
this question. The people have
the right to say whether they
want the court house built by
direct taxation or whether they
would rather bond the county
for the money, and it is this
question that trust be settled
either one way or the other. One
of the two will be done as a mat
ter of necessity and it will be
well to begin considering the
i matter now. Some developments
I along the line of building a court
house for Wheeler county may
be expected.
In this issue we publish the
I formal announcment of Dr- M.
i Morrison, who offers for the
' office of Representative in the
j next general assembly, subject
) to the rulings of the democratic
primary, Dr. Morrison has

1 hands he asks their sufferage.
He is a man well qualified for the
duties encumbent upon the posi
j tion, and his wide experience
will enable him to perform the
I important duties of the office to
the advantage of bis people. He
has a large number of friends
who will give him their loyal sup
