Methodist Church
Burned at Glenwood
On last Sunday afternoon,
while Sunday school was in
session, the Methodist church at
Glenwood was discovered on fire
by Policeman Bridges, who gave
the alarm just in time for the oc
cupants to escape. The South
Georgia District League had
been in session since Friday,
which swelled the average at
tendance at Sunday school. The
I fire started from a spark from
the heater in the church, and
the occupants were closed on the
inside, and if |he fire had not
been discovered as soon as it
was, it is very probable that it
would have proved more serious
than it did, as a stampede was
narrowly averted.
There were several hundred
people in the building and the
alarm from the policeman caused
a rush for the door. This was
perhaps the best church building
in the county, and as there was
no insurance carried on the
building, it is a complete loss.
Negro Seriously Stabbed.
On yesterday at Currie’s spur,
near Alamo, Anthony Cecil stab
bed Ebbie Fair, both colored.
The trouble arose at the car
from which they were hauling
fertilizer, when Fair got in ahead
of Cecil and refused to give way
and let Cecil load his wagon first.
It is said that Cecil collared Fair
and stabbed him in the side.
The wounded negro was brought
to Alatno and Dr. T. H. Nelson
was summoned and had~ him
taken to his office, where the
wound was dressed. Only two
stitches were taken.
the wound is consicered serious, j
as the stabb reached almost to
the hollow.
'ecil is a tenant on the farm
of Mr. Clarence Martin and was
hauling fertilizer for his farm.
Fair worked on the farm of Mr.
B. H. A. Brantley and was do
ing similar service. A warrant
was sworn out for Crcil’s arrest,
but up to the time of going to
press he had not been apprehend
ed.

We Hold Our Trade
Only permanent customers can make success.
Only satisfaction can make Permanent customers-
On this belief we base our manufacturing and
selling policies. We do not aim to sell to every
one that builds a house, but we do aim to please
the ones that we do sell, and to sell them their
second, third or more orders. This is the only
way to succeed.
We offer good up-to-grade material, courteous
treatment, prompt service and the lowest possible
prices that material like we are putting out can
be sold. All we ask is a trial order; then we
know we will get your trade.
Write us for prices on anything you may neek.
No order is too small for our best attention, nor
order too large that we neglect the smaller ones.
Ask the man who bought from us about the class
of material we sold him.
