~ Some Things Neces
-sary For Alamo To Grow
One thing that wil! oil the
. wheels of progress in Wheeler
county is for something definite
to be done toward building the
court house. This one move
would mean more progress than
manV things combined. 1t would
inspire confidence that nothing
elsé can do, and would be a step
ping stone to great and glorious‘
achievments in Wheeler county.
Not only wonld it mean so much
to Alamo and make a great town
that is so easily pictured to the
minds eye, but it would have the
effect of boosting the whole
county. What is good forthe
town of Alamo is good for every
interest in the county. Wheeler
county is blessed with some of
the most fertile soil to be found
anywhere, and with the concen
trated elorts of its inhabitants
the best results may be expect
ed, otherwise nothing can or will
“be done. The grand juries of
the county have recommenaed
that immediate action be taken
toward the building of the court
house, using the amount donated
by the pedple of Alamo, and
what is there in the way to pro
long the matter? The (o.nty
commissioners, three of thel
county’s best business men zmd’
honest and upright gentlemen,
we understand are ready to do
what they can, and they should
be given all the co-operation pos
sible to the end of accomplishing
this great necessity. The de
mand that the money donatedl
by the citizens of Alamo be
placed in oneof the local banks,
subjeet to the order of the com
missioners, we understand will |
not be an obstacle in the way ofi
prompt action, but that arrange
ments are being made to place
it to their eredit, and work can
be begun on short notice. \
The growth and development
of the town and county has been
remarkable. Onevery hand one
can see signs that point to the
great possibilities of the town
and county. For the past year
Alamo has increased wonder.
fully in population. Many nice
homes have been built, together
with business houses, and a
general wive of prosperity has
continned with us, under thel
adverse circumstances, but the
greater possibilities lay out be }
forawus. !
We need manufacturing enter- l
prises and must bave them. It!
is understood that a movement!
is on foot to establish a stock!
company here Yo operate a ferti«:;
lizer plant, which would bea!
great convenience to the people. !
Other like enterprises would be |
found tobe profitable, and ulsog
things that the town ngeds. ]
