Rey. B.F. Horne, pastor of the

filled his regular appointment

The light showers of the past
weelk haye been great aid to the
farmers in bringing up the
grain. Quite a lot of both cotton
and corn have already been
planted, aud the pleasant
‘weather with an oceasional
shower will cause the crops to
come up and grow off
- On account of the absence of
Mr. W. E. Currie, Clerk of the
county commissioners, and the
absence of Col. Mann, commis
sioners court consumed two days
this week. A family reunion at
the homeof Mr Currie’s par
ents claimed his attention, while
the Telfair . primary election
prevented Col. Mann'’s presence.
Thev were both excused how
ever, on good grounds,
Mrs. Jessie L. Rogers accom
panied by her daughter, Miss
Nettie Ayers and Miss Hannah
Bright, will leave next Sunday
for Boston, Massachussetts, for
several months.
The beautiful home of Judge
and Mrs. Wm. B, Kent over on
the hill near Kent Springs, is
almost completd, while several
rooms have been completed and
the family moved in one day last
week. This is one of the pret
tiest sites in town and is one of
the handsomest homes in this
section.

Bonnell, twenty-two years old, was
killed here ear y Sunday as be layin
bed sleeping. Anax apparently was
used in the murder. Harry Lee,
nephew of the dead man, and who
roomed with him, is beieg held by the
police pending am inyestigation, Lee
is eighteen years old,
The youth denies any connection
with the killing and claims it was done
by anegro. He claims he was awaken
ed by the noise made by the negro in
time to see him escaping from the
room. Bonnell is survived by a wife,
now living in Florida,
