The colton market has suffered
: a declining blow this week and
it now looks like it will be some
time before the farmers will feel
justified in placing their crop on
the market.

Dr. T. H. Nelson returned this
week from Mt. Ville, where he
was called last week to the bed
side of his brother, who is quite
ill. He will visit his brother
again the last of the week.
The friends of Miss Verlilla
Adams will learn with pleasure
that she is improving very rapid
ly, under the careful attention of
Dr. Nelson and Miss Martha
Sears.
Mrs. M. M. Salter of Daisy,
spent last week here with her
son, Mr. Ed Salter and family.
She left Monday for Hollenger,
Ala , to visit her son, Mr. H* M.
Salter.
The Mighty Haag railroad
shows will be in Alamo on Tues
day, October 13th, and the small
boys, as well the large ones, will
be in their glory. There will be
two performances, at noon and
at night.
Judge Graham rendered his
decision this week in the case of
the Town of Alamo vs. S. E.
Fuloord, which gives Mr. Ful
ford the right to proceed with
stable building, provided he
uses the kind of material speci
fied in the tire limit ordinance.
What has become of the Wheel
er county horse swappers’ con
vention? We have not even heard
the subject mentioned since the
last convention came to such a
successful close. Is it a fact
that all of our “trading stock’’
have plaid out?
Mrs Harrison Sears, Sr., is
spending a while in Alamo with
her son, Mr. H. L. Sears and
family. She is the great grand
mother of Herschel Beacham,
the young man murdered and
thrown in the Oconee river, near
Dublin, several days ago.

Alamo’s two gins are running
on full time, ahd some of the
farmers continue to haul their
cotton back home, while more
of them than formerly are storing
it in the warehouse. Very little
is being sold, and only the seed
is being disposed of, that repre
sents the cash money in circu
lation now
Dr. L. P. Fordham and family
returned home Sunday from
Atlanta, where they have been
for the past two months. Dr.
Fordham is gradually regain
ing his health, and judging
from his appearance, is looking
as well as before he was taken
down, more than a year ago. He
is almost able to bear his wait on
his feet, having gained a great
deal of strength while in Atlanta,
under the care of his physician.
His many friends were glad to
see him back again, greeting old
friends in his usual iovial way.
