others realize that they -can find
here goods that are up-to-date

business resembled that of a
wholesale house Wednesday, as
many articles were being packed
to ship to Dublin, Helena and

Home Entered by
Burglars and Robbed
Last Friday morning between
3 and 4 o’clock, while the family
was awav, burglars entered the
home of Mr. W. 11. Spell, in the
heart of town, and ransacked the
two front rooms of the house,
getting away with about sls in
money and several articles of
value. Mr. Spell was notified
Saturday morning over the tele
phone. but did not reach here
until Sunday morning. Just
what damage had been done was
not known until an inventory of
the wreckage was taken, when
it was found that all of the trunks
together with the drawers of the
dressers had been torn open and
a savings bank belonging to one
of the children had been cut open
and the contents taken, which
amounted to about $2.50, and
other cash amounting altogether
to about sls. A pistol that bad
been kept in one of the trunks
for a nu.i; ber of years was also
j missing, besides other minor ar
ticles. Not being satisfied with
this, this, the burglars placed a
lamp on a bed, and had not the
light attracted some one to the
scene when it did the house
would have been burned, which
would have spread to the adjoin
ing houses and the entire block
would have been in ashes in a
very short while. The alarm was
given and help reached the scene
in time to extinguish the flames
before anv great damage was
done. This was one of the most,
' daring pieces of meanness that
has ever been perpetrated, or
! that can be conceived of. Next
door to this house lay a little
child at the point of death, which
had not the flames been extin
guished. would have burned this
house, and adjoining this one was
a similar case It would have
meant the burning of at least six
[ houses, to say nothing of the lives
; endangered. Mr Spell is ata
' loss to know who could have done
this dirty work, and is investi
gating every clue Jim Parker,
i a nephew, was left in charge of
। the building during their ab-
IsenCe, but he c airns to know
| nothing of the affair. The only
thing known, who ever it iSight
have been, took the advantage of
the family’s tbsence, to do
one of the dirtiest, most diaboli
ical pieces of meanness in the
catagory of burglarism. It is
hoped that the guilty party or
parlies will be apprehended and
; receive the punishment which
} they justly deserve
The young folks of the town
enjoyed a Christmas tree at the
Methodist church Thursday ev
ening.
.More trouble is brewing in
Mexico, the natives are firing
' across the line into Arizona and
Bryan, Wilson & Co. are sending
troops down there to return the
compliment- Anything for peace
is their motto.
CHECKS CROUP INSTANTLY.
You know croup is daagerous. And
you ought to know too, the sense ol
security that comes from having Fol
ey’s Honey and Tar Compound in the
house. It cuts the thick mucus and
cleats away the phlegm, stops the
stragling cough and gives easy breath
ing and quiet sleep. Every user is a

Negro Woman Killed.
Coroner J- J. Brant lev was

part of the day to get the evi

the verdict, which was: “We the
jury empaneled to investigate the
killing of Docia Carr, find that
i she came to her deal by pistol
shots at the hands oi Theo
Wright ” ,
The killing caused some ex

J and the sheriff was notified, who
। 1 went out that night accompanied
