Mr. Mcßae Points The Way
We doff our hats to Mr James
Mcßae, County Commissioner
of Wheeler county, in conducting
the affirs of his county in such
an efficient and economical way
that he ia now able to abolish the
advalorem tax rate in Wheeler
county.
However, we were amused at
anews statement giving credit|
to the one~man commissioner!
of government, The Free Press
does not, we give full and com~:l
plete credit to Mr. Mcßae and
the other county officials of
Wheeler because it takes cooper
ation to bringabouta condibioni
of this kind, |
Telfair county has tried manyf
and various form of county com\l
missioners, from one to five and
sad to relate it was a One Man’
commissioner that placed Telfair
in the hole where she is today
and it, therefore, depends more
on the man or men than on a set
law,
However we congratulate
Wheeler county and Mr. Mcßae
in particnlar for showing that a}
county, even in Georgia, can
operate without tax levy, and wel
suggest M -, Mcßae for Georgia’s 1
next governor.—Telfair Kree|
