Through this medium we want to
thank our many friends, both white

to us in a recent fire which destroyed
our home and all personal belongings.
I didn’t know we had so many
friends who were so willing to help
us get clothes and other articles. I
want everyone to know we appreciate
your kindness and help and hope you
will be rewarded by our prayers.

In Loving Memory
BY J. SEABORN WINN

| (Written and read by me, by
invitation, in the Dedication of
[ ■ Cobb Memorial Hospital in Roy
ston. Georgia, Sunday, January
l 22, 1950). .
When I was just a little boy,
It used to fill my heart with joy
To hear the story of Ty Cobb,
Then making good on the baseball
job.
As time passed on, and fame he
earned,
। From his example this we learned:
I Much patient practice must be done
Before the victory can be won.
I
।Ty Cobb kept on, ’till in his grip
| He held the World's Baseball Cham
pionship!
| And all because he would not stop ;
’Til in his line he reached the top!
। When as Baseball's King he wore the
crown,
Ty Cobb remembered his Old Home
. Town,
' Where with a heart both light and
glad
। He played and romped when but a
lad.
| In his big heart was born this plan
, To help relieve the ills of man;
With this great thought his soul was
thrilled:
A House of Healing he would build.
Great encouragement he found
In our own Doctor Stewart Brown,
Whose skillful use of surgeon’s knife ।
Has brought health back to many a
life.
These friends from boyhood, Brown
and Cobb,
Planned, step by step, this splendid
job;
Thus did this hospital rise,
Cobb’s parents to memorialize.
Royston says to her famous son,
“We thank you for a job well done!
Not just your parents, in all oui'
people’s eyes,
But you also, Ty Cobb, shall this me
morialize! 1 ’
