Mrs. Annie Ruth
House
Funeral services were held Fri
slay, July 26, at 3:00 p.m., for
Mrs. Annie R. House of Mobile,
Ala., from the Chapel of the
'Northside Funeral Home in Mo
bile.
Mrs. House who has been in
declining health for several years,
cited in Mobile General Hospital,
Wednesday, July 24.
Mrs. House was a native of
Rhine, bom October 19, 1903, the
daughter of the late Joseph B.
and Mary L. Williams.
She is survived by her husband,
Earl G. House of Mobile; three
sons, William M. McCranie of
Columbus, John J. McCranie of
Albany, and Weyman M. McCran
ne of Prichard, Ala.; three sisters,
'Mrs Jim Vaughn of Milan, Mrs.
B F. Allen Jr., of Allendale, S.C.,
■and Mrs. H. T. Durden of Cand
ler, N.C.; and one brother, Wiley
D. Williams of Georgiana, Ala.;
four grandchildren and other rel
attives.
Paul Rabun Parker
Funeral services were held to
day (Thursday) in the Mt. Zion
Methodist Church for Paul Rabun
Parker, 24, well know resident of
Milan, who died at his home on
Wednesday morning of gunshot
wounds, and were conducted by
'the pastor, the Rev. Harvey
Strickland.
Mr. Parker was born in Milan
tin August 25, 1943, the son of
George Lee and Pauline Cravey
Parker, and was married to Miss
Winifred Pruitt of Chauncey on
March 11, 1966
Survivors include his wife; one
(sen, Paul Wilton, and his parents
all «f Milan, two brothers, George
E. Parker of Macon; Wilbun

Church.

Mrs. Brantley was a native of
Laurens County, and a member
of the White Spring Baptist
Church.
Survivors include one daugh

Funeral services for Wilburn ■
H. Hattaway, 63, of Hazlehurst, j
who died Saturday at his home,
after a brief illness, wereheld at
4 p. m. Monday at the Grace
Baptist Chmurch.
The Rev. Hillard Carter and
the Rev. Bob Chavis officated
with burial in the Hazlehurst
Cemetery.
Hattaway was a World Was II
veteran and a member of the
Hazlehurst American Legion. He
was employed by the Hazlehurst
Mills.

Mr. Poole was a native of
Toombs County and had lived in
Glenwood for the past 12 years.
He was serving in the Marine
Corps and was a member of the
Glenwood Church of God.
Survivors include his mother,
Mrs. Nida Mae Reese Poole of
Glenwood; five brothers, James
Tillman Poole, John Carl Poole
and Malcom Poole, all of Amer
icus, Tommy L. Poole of Ft. Ben

Reidsville State Prison officating,
assisted by the Rev. Robert
Woodall, pastor of the Alamo
Baptist Church.
Burial was in the Alamo City
Cemetery with Harris and Smith
Funeral Home in charge of ar
rangements.
Mrs. Thomas was born in Lau
, rens County on January 26, 1888,
was married to William Henry
; Thomas on November 10, 1907 in
Laurens County and was a mem
ber of the Alamo Baptist Church.

Gov. Lester G. Maddox has re
vealed that he spent some $90,000
in state emergency funds for ex
penses incurred during the fun
eral in Atlanta for slain Martin
j Luther King, Jr., last April.
The governor said it cost at
least $85,000 to call the State
National Guard on alert near At
lanta for the massive funeral pro
cession.
In addition, he said, it cost the

patrolmen to protect the Capitol

day in the Long Pond Methodist
Church. The Rev. C. E. Smith

ficated. Burial was in Telfair Me
morial Gardens in Mcßae.
A native of Twiggs County,
Mrs. McArthur had lived in the
. Long Pond community for the
past 40 year's. She was a mem
ber of the Long Pond Methodist
Church.
Pallbearers were Lamar Wells,
Charles Carpenter. J. W. Thomp
son, Robert Mobley, Archie John
son and Tom Butler Adams.
