RECORD YIELD
An Irwin County peanut farmer
has set the new official yield rec
ord for peanuts in Georgia. Ac
cording to agronomists with the
University of Georgia Coopera
tive Extension Service, he is
Dewey Carmichael. He produced
4,765 pounds per acre on 19.2
acres last year to set the record.

Mrs. Leila Hurst and Guy
Hughes were married April 13,
at the home of the bride.
The Rev. Riley Middleton per-,
formed the double ring ceremony
in the presence of the immediate
families. The bride wore a becom-,
ing gown of aqua silk with match-;
ing accessories. She wore a white ;
orchid corsage.
Mrs. Reginald Thompson of
Glennville, honored the couple
with a reception. The table in the ■
'dining room featured a cloth of'
pink overlaid in white lace and i
an arrangement of pink carna-1
tions.
The two-tiered wedding cake ’
was embossed with roses and
topped with wedding bells. Punch
was served from a crystal bowl.
Crystal compotes of mints and 1
nuts completed the refreshments.
The couple will make their
home in Glenwood.
