We’re great believers
in growing plants
i
And we believe in growing them in Georgia. Our
,! industrial development representatives travel
,; thousands of miles yearly to bring industry to
11 Georgia. And they find places for plants to
I i put down roots. With water, people, transportation.
1 ■ If a plant dreams of a place in the sun, our men will
point down here. Jf it needs water, they'll talk about
our rivers. If one wants plenty of spreading room,
; i they've got some great big country to discuss.
t; Why our concern? Because new plants mean
1 development, jobs, enormous opportunity. When
)i industries thrive, Georgia thrives. When they grow,
Georgia grows. And growing things are beautiful,

May Vote To Be Held
On Cotton Allotment
Transfers — Perdue
Cotton farmers in Wheeler
i County will vote next month to,
decide whether, in 1970, they
i want to be able to sell or lease
I their cotton allotments outside'
I the county, J. O. Perdue, Chair
j man. Agricultural Stabilization
I and Conservation County Com- i
| mittee, has announced. The ref- i
: erendum applies only to 1970 and
[will be conducted by mail during
I the period May 5 through May 9. i
I Ballots may also be delivered by;
| hand to the ASCS county office. (
The only question to be decided;
by the balloting is whether up-1
I land cotton allotments may be l
I transferred during the next year '
।to other farms by sale or lease.
I Such transfers may be made by j
I sale or lease for a period of time
* agreed on by the parties involved.:
' In no case may transfers be made
| outside the state. An affirmative |
j vote by at least two-thirds of the
| county’s cotton farmers who vote
j will permit such transfers for the ’
I upland cotton crop during 1970.
Cotton allotment transfers were
। provided by the 1965 Food and
' Agriculture Act, and past refer
enda on this question have ap
plied to growing seasons through
1969. The Congress voted to ex
tend the Act to cover the 1970
crop year, and the current ref
erendum will decide the question
of transfers for the single year ;
1970.
I Mr Perdue said. “We hope all
producers will vote. The vote ।
should be fully representative of j
the wishes of cotton farmers in'
our county.”
The Chairman said that copies
of the ballot are being sent to all
cotton producers of record in the j
county, together with inforamtion '
i describing the program's purpose ■
! and operation. Any cotton pro-'
Iducer who has a question about
i the referendum or about who is '
|eligible to vote, is urged to get:
iin touch with the ASCS county.
' office.
