GEORGIA
CLAYTON (PRN) -
“Think Snow” is the winter
watchword among the South’s
ever growing number of
enthusiastic skiers.
But if this mass effort at
positive thinking doesn’t
conjure up an adequate
natural snowfail, southeastern
skiers are still assured
excellent skiing conditions at
Sky Valley, Georgia’s original
ski resort. Nestled in the
Appalachian foothills, Sky
Valley with its up-to-date
snow-making equipment
requires only a chilly
28-degree temperature to
produce its own snow.
Appealing to skiers and
sightseers alike is the new
chalet ski lodge with tall,
dramatic windows looking out
on the rugged scenery around
4,746-foot Rabun Bald.
Designed by Frank Rickman,
the building boasts a
contemporary yet rustic
interior enclosed by a series of
eight A-frames. The lobby
combines a massive stone
fireplace and rich red
carpeting with rugged
mountain features, such as
logs shaped into benches and
tables and massive tree trunks
disguising the heating system.
Downstairs are rental facilities.

Mr. and Mrs. 0. B. Adams Celebrate
Golden Wedding Anniversary
On December 12, Mr. and
Mrs. Olin Bennett Adams were
honored on their Golden Wed
ding Anniversary, by their
children at their home on
Route 2, Alamo.
Mr. and Mrs. Adams were
married December 25, 1921
in Wheeler County, and have
always made their home there.
The couple have four children,
eleven grandchildren, and
three great grandchildren,
who were all present to help
them enjoy the occasion.
As the guests entered they
were greeted by their daugh
ter, Mrs. Joe H. O’Quinn of
Moultrie. Standing in the re
ceiving line with the couple
were their sons, O.C. Adams,
Carl Adams and Junior
Adams, all of Alamo.
The house was decorated
throughout, using the Christ
mas scheme. The door piece
was gold bells encircled by
Christmas flowers. The
mantle in the living room
was decorated with red
candles and holly, along with
another arrangement of red
and white carnations in a bas
ket, with gold pine cones.
Other rooms in the house
were decorated in the Christ
mas decor, using gold candles.
Mrs. Adams was lovely
dressed in a navy belted sheath
dress, complimented by a yel
low throated orchid.
The register table was
overlaid with a gold cloth and
a burning Memory' Candle sur
rounded by gold grapes.
Granddaughters, Carla Adams
and Lu-Ann Adams presided
at the table.
Guests were then invited
into the dining room, where
the table was covered with
a yellow cloth overlaid with
ecru lace. The table was beau
tifully decorated with an ar
rangement of yellow roses,
which were held by a crystal
and gold footed container with
cupid symbols. The table also
held the traditional anni
versary cake, made and deco
rated by Mrs. Bill Roberson
of Moultrie. The four tier
cake was yellow and white,
each tier held by white
columns and bells. The bride
and groom atop completed the
cake. Their granddaughter,
Mrs. Ron O’Quinn of Ocilla,
cut the cake with a gold knife
presented them by their great
grandchildren, Shannon and
Sean O’Quinn.
Their other granddaugh
ters, Mrs. Glen Tillman of
Norman Park, Miss Renee
Adams of Alamo, and Miss
Elizabeth Cooper of Ailey,
served the cake and punch
which was served from a crys
tal bowl with nuts and mints
being held by crystal dishes.
Miss Teresa Adams, an
other granddaughter, helped
to display the many useful
and beautiful gifts the couple
received.
Mn. 0. C. Adams, Mrs.
Carl Adams and Mrs. Junior
Adams were the hostesses
for the afternoon, showing the
guests throughout the house.
Others assisting were, Mrs.
L. C. Greene, Cordele; Mrs.
D. W. Wright and Mrs. W. R.
Wright, Jr. of Alamo; Mrs.
Bobby Wright and Mrs. Dave
Smith of Hazlehurst.
About 200 friends and rela
tives called during the after
noon wishing for the couple
many more years of wedded
bliss.
Coats Family
Has Four To
Graduate 1971
We just received the news
that Minnie L. Coats of
Alamo, wife of the late Rev.
Eddie Coats had four children
to be awarded degrees during
the old year, of 1971.
Her son, Thomes E. Coats
graduated from Wheeler Co.
High School, May 1971, and
Military School in Sarasota,
Fla, October 1971. Her daugh
ter, Janyce Coats received
her B.S. degree in French
from Albany State College,
June 1971. Her daughter,
Annie C. Jackson, a former
teacher at Wheeler County
Training School, received her
Masters ’ degree from Atlanta
University, August 1971, and
Lucille Coats Reid, received
her B.S. degree from Savan
nah State College, also August
1971.
Mrs. Minnie Coats, the
proud parent, attended all of
these graduation ceremonies
and states that these occasions
will long be remembered.
The Coats family salutes
the old year 1971, and look
forward to the new, Nineteen

The mind is slow to unlearn
what it has been long in
learning.
