Grandma’s Glasses
Two small boys were talking
together. Then one asked,
“Wouldn’t you hate to wear
glasses?’”’ ‘No,”” answered
the other, ‘not if they were
the kind my grandma wears,
My mother says she always
sees when folks are tired and
sad. She sees whenever a
neighbor is in need. She never
fails to recognize things at
the right time.” The lad con
tinued, ‘I asked Grandma one
day how it was that she could
see that way. She explained
it like this: “It’s the way I've
learned to look at things since
I've gotten older!’’ So I just
know it was those glasses of
hers!’” The author of this
account found out later on
that, ‘““It wasn’t Grandma’s
spectacles - It was the love of
God in her heart!”
Having experienced His re
deeming grace in her own life
through the provision of the
One who was willing to take
upon himself ‘the form of a
servant,”” this Christian’s
eyes were opened to others,
With a new heart filled with
the Lord’s love she enjoyed
sharpened spiritual vision.
Perceiving the heartbreaken
dured, the burdens borne, and
the battles encountered by
those about her, she did what
she could to cheer and help
them along the way.
If you’ve been blind to the
plight of those nearby and
have failed to see the vast
needs of a world lost in sin,
it may be that you sheuld have
‘“new glasses’’ - the kind that
provide the discerning insight
which comes with being born
again., Then, under the con
trol of the Holy Spirit and
having the mind of Christ,
you’ll be able to see others
the way “‘Grandma’’ did.

Special Release
About Your
Social Security
April 15, 1972, This is a
very important day if you are
working. The firstthought that
comes to mind is this is the
deadline for filing 1971 Income
Tax., Charles F, Hall, Branch
Manager of the Dublin Social
Security Office, states, ‘“This
is also an IMPORTANT date
for those receiving social se~
curity benefits and still work
ing.
““This is the last day that you
can file an annual report of
earnings if you 1) received
social security benefits in
1971, 2) worked in 1971 and
3) your earnings in 1971 were
over $1680.00.” If you meet
all 3 of the above conditions
and had at least one check
withheld because of work, you
should have received a form
to complete and mail in.
If you did not receive a form
and earned over $1680.00, you
should contact the Dublin
Social Security Office at 114
East Johnson Street. The tele~
phone number is 272-5347.
For those on the Mcßae,
Wrightsville, Soperton, or
Eastman telephone exchanges,
you can dial the operator and
ask for WX-1500 and there
will be no charge to you.
Filing of your 1971 Tax
Return DOES NOT satisfy
the filing of an annual report.
If you have a question re
garding your annual report,
call, write, or visit the Dublin
Social Security Office.
Q. 1 finished school last
June and received school
benefits all that year until I
graduated. I took a job in
July and earned $3600 from
then until the end of the year.
Do I need to file an annual
report of earnings?
A, Yes, since you earned
over SI6BO andreceived bene
fits for part of the year. This
report must be filed even
though you did no work until
after school was out.
Q. As a maid, my wages
are low and I feel I need all
my pay to live on. Does social
security have to be deducted
from my pay?
A, If you are paid as much
as $50.00 in one calendar
quarter by the same employer,
the law requires that social
security contributions be de
ducted from your wages.

Following a brief intro

very movingly thank you to
God and to the Eastman Lions

Blind since he was seven
years old, Clarence attended
the Georgia Academy for the

and is now attending the Had
