school gymnasium in Alamo,
May 26. Beth is among twelve
honor graduates from a class
at 71 seniors at Wheeler Coun
ty High School.
Lowell Clark of Augusta,
came home for the week end.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rowland
visited her mother, Mrs.
Ruthie Rooks in Heflin, Ala.,
over the week end.

Mrs. Lowell Clark attended
the wedding of Miss Brenda
Turner to Jim Nelson, Jr., at
the First Methodist Church
in Dublin, May 20, afterwards
a reception at the Elks Club.

were Sunday guests of Mrs.
Kent W. Currie.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Adams
had as recent guests, Mr. and
Mrs. W. M. Peacock of Hia

Ed Freeman of Savannah.
Mrs. Sibyl Gray of Atlanta,
and Mrs. Eddie Thompson of
Eatonton, were guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Hubert Joiner. They
were called home due to the
illness of their mother, Mrs.
J. P. Thompson, who is a
patient in Wheeler County
Hospital.

Visitors will certainly be
taking their chances if they
appear at Clayton’s
Moun* ineer Festival sans
sunbonnet or whiskers. It’s
rumored that an old-fashioned
calaboose awaits such
offenders.
Nevertheless, few city folk
care to miss the annual Rabun
County event, set this year for
June 16 and 17.
Preparations for Clayton’s
12th Festival get underway
Friday, the 16th, with a
beauty contest to choose a
local belle to reign as Queen of
the Festival. This event will be
followed by a square dance at
the Mountain City Playhouse,
situated between Clayton and
Dillard.
Cloggers will whirl and
fiddlers tune up for
country-sound competition on
Friday and Saturday, with
finals to be held at the
Playhouse.
Saturday will also be the
day of the big parade, with
Mr. and Mrs. Rodney John
son, Allen and Lori Ann, visit
ed relatives in St. Petersburg,
Fla., and attended the wedding
of her sister.
Mr. and Mrs. WilliamSight
ler of Jonesboro, and Shndra
Lovett of Vidalia, visited Mrs.
W. H. Sightier. Mrs. Sightier
visited her sister, Mrs.
Matrice Lovett in Vidalia, who
was injured in a car wreck.
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Miller
of Tampa, Fla., were Wednes
day night guests of Mrs. Rita
Bomar and Mrs. Eolia Moore.
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Mont
ford of Vidalia, accompanied
by Sandra and Dwight Mont
ford, are spending a week in
Florida. They will visit Walt
Disnev World.

Judges will award prizes for
the cleverest float.
Along with scheduled
activities will be crafts and
costume contests . . .beard and
baby contests. . .competition
in hog calling, wood chopping,
rifle shooting. There will be
Main Street exhibits of art and
wildlife, and a tempting array
of home-cooked food,
including chicken barbecue
and baked goods.
And scattered among the
north Georgia county’s soaring
peaks are shining lakes for
swimming and fishing, rolling
hills for golfing and hiking -
all warmed by summer sun
and cooled by mountain
breezes.
The Department of
Industry and Trade, Tourist
Division, says it’s time to don
a beard or bonnet, pack your
sports gear, and spend a
weekend mountain-style in the
northeast corner of Georgia.

Do not attempt to dye
fabrics composed of manmade
fibers or blends containing
synthetic fibers. These fibers
were originally dyed in the
molten state. Afterwards dye
cannot penetrate the non
absorbent fiber. Dye is simply
deposited on the surface and
will wash away with the first
washing.
