Mrs. Maurice Lynn Johnson
Angela Gayle Johnson and
Maurice Lynn Johnson spoke
their wedding vows at three
in the afternoon on May 28,
in the Chapel of the First
Baptist Church of Statesboro.
Dr. J. Robert Smith officiated.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. J. Brantley
Johnson of Decatur. Thegroom
is the son of Sheriff and Mrs.
James Maurice Johnson.
The altar was beautiftilly
decorated with greenery and
spring flowers. Candelabra
with white tapers were used
in the background.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride was beautiful
in her wedding dress of ivory
silk organza. The bodice of
Alencon lace with small seeded
pearls featured long full
sleeves of organza which were
appliqued with the same lace.
The bottom of the dress was
designed with the lace to form
a diamond pattern falling intoa
long train. With this she wore
a matching finger-tip veil and
a string of pearls belonging
to her mother. The bouquet
was a spray of white roses
and lilies of the valley.
Cynthia Johnson of Wash
ington, D.C., was her sister’s
maid of honor. Bridesmaids
were Sharon McGahee of
Decatur, Cissy Joies of
Statesboro, and Tricia Lowery
of Thomasville. Flower girl
was Jennifer Johnson, cousin
of the groom, of Statesboro.
The bridesmaids’ dresses,
and flower girl’s dress, were
blue voile. The top of the dress
was ivory cotton lace with a
bib-effect front, long sleeves
and lace cuffs which matched
the old fashioned stand-up lace
collar. The full skirt had a
deep ruffle at the bottom. They
carried arm sprays of blue
and white iris, yellow and
white daisies and baby’s
breath.
Miss Jean Browning of Glen
wood, presented a program
of organ music and Miss Ann
Johnson of Alamo, sang
“Because” and “The Lord’s
Prayer.”
Maurice Johnson served as
his son’s best man. Grooms
men were Wayne Johnson of
Glenwood, Gene Johnson of
Statesboro, Jimmy De Loach
of Pembroke, Danny Hartley
of Athens, and Captain John
B. Johnson of Colorado
Springs, Colo.
The mother of the bride
wore an aqua silk dress with
a lace bodice. Her corsage
was made of roses.
The groom’s mother wore a
pink knit dress and her corsage
was made of pink rose buds.
Immediately following the
ceremony the bride’s parents
entertained at a reception in
the Church Social Hall. Miss
Ann Stanley of Atlanta, kept
the bride’s book. Mrs.
Gwendolyn Cox of Alamo,
served the bride’s cake.
Mrs. J. P. Redding greeted
the guests at the door and
Mrs. E. L. Anderson, Jr.,
introduced the guests to the
receiving line. Others assist
ing were Ginger Lingle, Donna
Johnson, Debbie Johnson, Sally
McDougald, Nirs. Gerald D.
Groover and Mrs. W. N. Lee,
Jr. '
For the wedding trip Mrs.
Johnson chose a’ sleeveless
dress with a white pleated
skirt and tangerine bodice and
a matching Eisenhower jacket.
Complementing her outfit was
a white orchid corsage.
After a wedding trip toHilton
Head, S. C., Mr. and Mrs.
Johnson will reside in Alamo.
Rehearsal Dinner
A dinner following the re
hearsal for the weeding was
held Saturday night, May 27,
at Mrs. Bryant’s Kitchen. The
tables were beautifully deco
rated with arrangements of
spring flowers.
Hosts for the occasion were
the groom’s parents. At this
time the groom presented the
Groomsmen with valet cases.
Bridesmaids
Luncheon
Miss Johnson entertained
her bridesmaids with a dinner
at the Paragon on Thursday
evening, May 25. An arrange
ment of pink carnations was
used on the table.
She presented her brides
maids with silver bud vases
and her flower girl with a
silver piggy bank.

A Shower-Tea was given
Saturday, May 20, from 4 to
6 p.m. honoring Miss Gayle
Johnson in the home of Mrs.
Bill Cox. Miss Jean Browning
registered the guests.
A beautiful array of gifts
were on display for the guests
to view.

Girl Scouts To
Attend Pines Day
Camp July 17-28
All Girl Scouts, adults, and
non-scouts who plan to attend
the Pines Day Camp, July
17-28, on the grounds of the
Bleckley County Elementary
School are to report to the
Bleckley County Health Dept,
in Cochran, Bth Street, on
June Bth, Thursday, at 9:30
a.m., for Health Exams.
Mrs. Emily Barnes, RN,
will be in charge. Health exam
inations are required by the
Middle Georgia Girl Scout
Council for each child and
adult attending the Pines Day
Camp.

Miss Sandra Lynn Clark
Mr. and Mrs. John W. Clark
of Alamo, announce the forth
coming marriage of their
daughter, Sandra Lynn, to
Keith E. McNeal, son of Mr.
and Mrs. H. S. McNeal of
Alamo.
The bride elect is grand
daughter of Mrs. W.H.Strick
land and the late Mr. Strick
land of Hazlehurst, and the
late Mr. and Mrs. Neal T.
Clark of Alamo.
Miss Clark graduated from
Wheeler County High School
and completed her secretarial
course at Crandall Business
College in Macon. She is now
employed with the Little
Ocmulgee E.M.C. in Alamo.
The future groom is the
grandson of Mr. and Mrs.
W. A, Breedlove of Alamo,
and Mrs. Ina McNeal of Mt.
Vernon and the late David
McNeal of Jefferson.
Mr. McNeal graduated from
Wheeler County High School
and attended Abraham Baldwin
Junior College in Tifton. He
spent almost two years in the
U. S. Army spending thirteen
months in Germany. He is
now employed with Federal
Pacific Electric in Vidalia.
The wedding will be at 7:00
o’clock on June 30, at Mt.
Carmel Holiness Baptist
Church. No invitations will
be sent but all friends and
relatives are cordially invited.
