Homer is getting in some cotton.
The roads are in a splendid con
dition for hauling over them.
it is predicted this winter vvill be
a good wheat season.
Farmers are slid busy pick ng
the fleecy staple.
Homer is extremly dull for this
season.
Homer’s streets are in a bad con
dition for the winter.
Cotton sold in Harmony Grove
last week at 8 7-Bths. Guano cot
ton was taken at 12 cents.
Miss Emma Martin is visiting
relatives and friends here this
week.
From the noise of the hammer
and saw, Homer has disrobed her
summer sleeping and gone to work.
Yesterday was a very disagree
able morning—something on the
malarial order.
Oapt, Carr and Mr. W. C, Haul
brook of Maysville, were present
at the organizing of the Candler
Club Saturday night.
The Bushville Candler Club had
up to Monday, over 75 names en
rolled. Ere this the number is

Every democrat in the county

Mrs. J. J. Turk is slowly recov
ering from a relapse of typhoid fe
ver. Her condition the past few
days has been very serious. At
this writing her physician has fav
orable hopes for her recovery.
From the way the boys speak of
buying new buggies, next summer
will be a gorgeous time for the g’s.
to have their fun at the b’s. ex
pense and the displeasure of the
horse, for there are fast drivers
around here.
Rev. Mr. Cartledge preached at
the Presbyterian church Sunday
morning. As there were no fires in
the church, the excessive chilness
compelled some to leave before
services were over. Throe acces

Any of the readers having a copy
of the Observer of Sept. 12th. will
please leave it at this office or for
ward to Mr. M. N. Mitchell, Bel
ton. The gentleman desire* lo
read the article on the Bushviile
Literary Club.
Dr. Stapler performed a surgic
al operation on one of Mr. J K.
Thompson’s hoys, Sunday. A bile
had formed on the neck over the
gland. The doctor lanced it, but
the puss seemed to be imbeded in
a sack, which would have been dif
ficult to reach.
Banks doesen’t seem to be making
much preparations for the North
East Georgia Fair. It is about
time. The people of Banks would
regret to know they were not re
cognized at the fair, if they have a
spark of pdde about them.
In making mention of a mar
riage last week, the Observer got
the information wrong. The name
of the groom should have read
W, L, Acres. The marriage was
not an elopement. Mr. L. J, Rags
dale officiated. Mr. Ragsdale says
Mr. Acres and Miss Ray was the
first he has married since in office.
Someone has said Judge R. L,
Hooper of Washington District, is
for Pickett. The Observer don’t
believe it. Only last court Mr.
Hooper came into this office, and
said he “wa6for Coggins—was op
posed to independentism in any
shape!” This Mr. Hooper will not
deny,
One of Banks’most prosperous
farmers was seen going home from
a neighboring town Friday, with
two baleg of cotton on his wagon,
which he had refused to sell at pres
ent prices. If all the farmers were
able to this, prices would come up
to something like the worth of cot
ton; but the great* misfortune is,
they are in debt and compelled to
sell, in order to make settlements.
Living anywhere but home to raise
cotton, is the whole solution of
this.
Miss Cinfhia Thomas and moth
er, from near the Franklin line,
visited Mr. Garrison’s family Sun
day, By the way, Miss Thomas
knows how to drive a buggy. Last
Sunday evening some ot the young
men were out strolling, when the
young lady came along at a Maud
S. speed. One of the young men
was slow in getting out ©f the way,
but when the driver exclaimed at
the top of her voice, “Get out of my
way!” that young man was fright
ened so, he made a bulge for the
fence—narrowly escaping from
running a rail through himself.
