I have often heard a poor blind girl eweatly aing, Kind words will nsver die. Ab! we believe that these are among the things that will never Wear oat. And we are told in God’s own book to be kind one to another, tender hearted, forgiving one another. The word of the Lord will never wear out. Though the grass shall wither and flowers fall away, the word of the Lord ondureth forever. 1 Peter i: 24.25. The life of the righteous will never wear out. They will live in the world to come aa long as ood shell live; hot the death of the nicked will laat for ever. The joys of the kingdom of Heaven will never wear oat. The pleasures of this world soon die; hnt the enjoy ments of that world will never end. The new song will never wsar out. We hear sometimes that soma of onr tunes are worn threadbare; bnt that will never be said of the new song. Whieh will yon chose? The last ing, or that which wastes away?— the things of time, or of erernity? Will you chose wealth, honor, fame, or the joys of Heaysn, eternal lire, the frown of glory, and the Hew song? May ood enable ns to mnke a wise choice; and, with Joshua, may we ch >se to serve h- Lud —[Ch'-is'-Un Treasury . A novel speotro telegraphic appsr t us has been construe e<f by Dr Psqi la Gour, a Danish physicist. It pro jects a steady veitiiul spectrum, on which, with a special telesci pe, ltd aid blue data and line* are seen io <p pftr and disappear. These are Morse eignale, produced by tie breaking of the speotrnm by ‘he opening and abut ting cf little slits, displaying the col ored dots and lines. The Isthmus of Gonnth Canal is go ing ahead satisfactorily in the route mapped out about 1,800 years ago by the Emperor Nero. It will be about four miles long and nearly twenty seven feet deep. It is expected that ships will be able to pass through it at tbe rate of six miles per hour. The soil is so shifty that it will be necessa ry to protect the banks with masonry tor a distaace of two miles. The Andaman islander*} share al most the entire surface of tbe soalp as thoroughly as tha imperfect imple ments at their command will allow them. Formerly they used chips of broken flat for this parpose, bat since tbe arrival of Europeans upon their islands they oan indulge in the luxury of a shave with a pitce of brokan bot tle glass. It is said that a wife takes a peculiar pleasure in shaving tbe head of her husband. It may safely be stated that one drummer in ten likes his situation. Af ter the novelty of the life wears off, an intense loathing of the “road” grows upon him. There is something utter ly repugnant to the average man in being obliged to hurry from place to place as if driven by an antique fury. To a married man it is especially so, and therefore, most drummers are yonng and single. Genius is a dazzling talent, bnt it won’t plod. Talent iB forced to plod or get left, and so with tho instinct of self preservation it generally plods. Gsuins starts oat a petted darling aad ends by dodging the bailiffs end dying in the poor house, while talent rlists a monument in its honor ani pays tha bill out of its well filltd pocket. The “silent Ten Moltke” isn't at all silent at koms. He is, on tbs con trary, a oharminj, lively and aimiable companion. Hi is rery fond efthe wife of bis nspbtw, who presides over his household, and of her children. He loves whist >nd roses, and of these flowers snltivatfc a great variety.
