He enter ed Phillips Exerter academy some years ago. For the first month he lived on 10 cents a day, his food being oatmeal and cornmeal, with the toughest kind ot beefsteak o ice a week as a rare treat. At Yale he earned his way by tutor ing and writing for papers.
