TRIBESMEN SEND FOUR PITCHERS TO

MERRY-GO-ROUND j
BRINGS A DOZEN
HITS TO INDIANS
I
Playing havoc with four Augusta
twirlers, the Savannah Indians yes
terday went on a hitting rampage
and thoroughly shellacked the neigh
boring city to the score of 11 to 7.
Featured by the hitting of Eddie
Moore the little crackerbox shortstop,
and the newly acquired Lunak, out
fielder who shared the hitting spot
light by getting two out of five, the
Tribe finally struck their stride and
did the things expected of thorn.
Garnering an even dozen hits off
the four Augustans, the Indiana
more than made up for their delin
quency in the box score in the sev
enth inning, when they pushed
across four runs, which, coupled with
the runs in the first half of the
game, put the game on ice for oir
boys. Augusta got off to an early
start when they got to Lowe the first
Savannah hurler, for a total of sev
en runs by the time the fourth in
ning was reached. Miller then go
ing in, held the Augusta aggregation
in check, until he left the box in tne
next inning because of a pinch hit
ter. Manager Bill Gould then pitch
ed the rest of the route, keeping
everything well in check.
McNeill, the left fielder for the
tribe, get his eye on the ball in tire
seventh inning and cracked one into
the stands for a circuit clout. His
only hit for the day, the elongated
Indian more than made up for his
scarcity in hits suffered while the
Tribe was playing Columbus.
Playing before 2,000 people, this
game was the taps in attendance for
the city in the red clay hills. Show
ing some of the power expected of
them, the Savannahians finally came
through while being watched by Bob
by LaMotte, general manager and
vice president of the Indians.

6 TO 5 COUNT
The Dixie Crystals again showed
their class in a game held at the Re

a wild pitch by Davis, diminutive
Pelican pitcher, three runs crossed
