M ADMITS MISTAKE I 7ETERAN WHO ASKED FOR JAIL TERM CHANGES HIS MIND CHICAGO, May 1 (TP)—A world I war veteran, who was sent to prison for a year at his own request, told a judge today he’s decided it was all a mistake. Last fall, when winter was setting in early and veteran Joseph Marotti was broke and friendless, he had him self arrested. He charged himself with shoplift, ng—and aske the judge to send him to jail for a year. Said Municipal Judge Holland. ‘Okay. A year in the Bridewell Pri son.” ... Winter’s over now, and Marotti looked longingly through the bars of his cell at the warm sunshine. He will soon have his veteran's bonus. Marotti asked the judge: “I won der if couldn’t withdraw my charges against myself?” Judge Holland is considering the petition.
