May 6 (TP) —The fear that five fishermen died when a freighter nosed through a thick fog to cut down a small excur sion fishing boat grew steadily to day. The boat, run down by the freight er, “Angelina" was the “M. J. R., VIII”. One fisherman was killed in stantly in the crash, but It had been .supposed htat all other passengers aboard the firshing boat were res cued by nearby vessels. A check-up, however, revealed that four other pas sengers are still missing and are be lieved to have drowned. Federal Steamboat Inspection Ser vice hearings into the crash will be resumed today. The skipper of the “M. J. R., VIII”, Capt. Frank Pola check, was the principal witness at the opening hearing. He said that the dense fog shut down after the fish ing boat had anchored in the steamer lanes.
