VEST-POCKET VACATIONS
An Outfit For the Week-End Holiday
Weather and work permitting, the modern conception of the sabbatical day of rest is a miniature
vacation. Diversion in the form of healthful activity has been substituted for the biblical ad
juration by a nation that finds relaxation ony in action. The week-end holiday belogs to no
particular season. Summer, however, offers a wider variety of diversions. Special week-end
rates make possible inexpensive journeys by rail to pleasant resorts, with ample time left for
the full enjoyment of shore or mountain. Week-end sojourning,\ like a lengtheir holiday, calls
for serious consideration of the subject of clothes that will put you and keep you at ease—come
what may. Elimination of all but the essentials is in order. With the exception of achange of
“linen,” we’ve suggested here a minimum week-end wardrobe that will suffice to meet every
eventuality of resort activities. Looking over the train schedule is a week-ender in a double
breasted grey flannel suit. The jacket of this suit will serve later for wear with white flannels,
while the light-weight raincoat over his arm is indicative of a certain amount of preparedness for
possible inclement weather. The light-weight felt is a practical hat for his journey.
