Mrs. Field is the 80-year-old widow of the late poet whose “Little Boy Blue’’ and other verses endeared him to children and grown-ups. A check was sent Mrs. Field by the fraternity Phi Delta Theta, of which Eugene Fields was a member. The loan prevented sale of her home and covered liens on the Wisconsin property. H„ May 23 (TP)—Authorities are investigating the possibility that the torch murder victim found on lonely Mt. Wantastl quet was a woman reported missing In Jersey City, N. J. The officials declined to reveal the name of the missing woman. Medical examiner Arthur Weston and the county solicitor were checking the new theory in the case. State Pathologist Hubbard examin ed the body today. He reported the woman victim had been beaten and shot. Miss Riley, who inaugurated the move ment for "Midget Savannah," which has brought forth the praise of edu cators throughut Georgia, announc ed her plan for a supervised play time during the long months of sum mer. The P.-T. A. of the school, the Public library and the Association of University Women have promised to assist with the school. It will con sist of four weeks of directed play, during whch music, fancy work, do mestic science for older girls, man uel training for older boys, dramatics and other activities will keep the children happy and engaged in in teresting work. Miss Riley said that as the school has no funds for the work, its suc cess wil depend on the gifts and vol unteer service of generols Savan nahians.
