DAILY WANT ADS CONVERT CENTS INTO DOLLARS—TRY THEM “WHITE LEGION” ATTACKS STAR MOB ACTION BY SECT HAS POLICE PUZZLED HOLLYWOOD, June 3 (TP)—Au thorities admit they are stumped to day in their investigation of the rea son for mob action which drove form er screen star William Haines out of Manhattan Beach. The near-rio, in which Haines and * friend, Jimmy Shields, were badly beaten, occured Sunday night, but news of the incident did not leak out until hours later. According to Haines, who left the screen several years ago to take up interior decorating, he and Shields were driving towards the Manhattan beach cottage he had recently rented when they were stoppd by a mob. Naming themselves the "White Leg ion", Haines said, the mobsters beat him and Shields unmercifully and then ordered them out of the com munity. Several guests at Haines’ cottage also were Included in the "Get Out” order. Their cars were pelted with de crepit eggs and aged tomatoes as they fled. Haines Insists that he knows no reason for the attack. ROCKEFELLER, SR., IS NORTHWARD BOUND LAKEWOOD, N. J., June 3 (TP)— The man whose name spells millions. John D. Rockefeller, is due to return to Golf House, his New Jersey sum mer estate today. The 96-year-old multi millionaire Is speeding northward from Florida aboard a special train. Considerable secrecy cloaked his movements and it is probable that Rockefeller will leave the train at some small junction near Lakewood and motor to Golf House. Next Monday, the oil magnate will celebrate his 97th birthday. With its passing, Rockefeller will have only three years left before he realizes his long standing ambition to live to see 100. Perjury may bring a life sentence in Alabama, Maine, Rhode Island and South Dakota, if committed during testimony art, a trial where the de fendant is liable to obtain a life sen tence, while in Te>|ts it may be pun ished by death. (c) To repair tires and tubes and batteries and generally service auto mobiles. (d) To carry on any business col lateral or incidental to any of the foregoing, and to do all and every thing necessary, suitable and conveni ent or proper, for the accomplish ment of any of the purposes, or the attainment of any one or more of the objects herein enumerated, or inci dent to any of the powers herein named, or which shall at any time appear to be legitimately conducive thereto or in furtherance thereof. 4. Petitioners pray that said cor poration be vested with all the rights, powers and privileges incident to cor porations of this character under the laws of Georgia, Including the right to sue and be sued, to have and use a common seal to make by-laws, bind ing on its stockholders, and to pur chase, hold, lease, sell, use and other wise enjoy such property, real or per sonal, as is necessary to the purpose of their organization, and to own stock in other corporations, and to do all such acts as are necesary for the legitimate execution of this purpose, and for the carrying on cf the busi ness, and for the carrying out of the objects of said corporation. Petitioners further pray that said corporation be authorized and em powered to borrow money, to make and issue promissory notes, bills of exchange, bonds, debentures and ob ligations, and evidences of indebted ness of all kind, and to secure the payment thereof by mortgage, pledge, deed of trust, deed to secure debt, or in suoh other manner as may be deemed advantageous and proper. 5. The minimum capital stock to be employed by said corporation shall be the sum of One Thousand ($1,000.00) Dolars, all of which is actually paid in. The said stock is divided into shares of the par value of One Hun dred ($100.00) Dollars each. Peti tioners pray, however, that said cor poration be authorized, in the discre tion of its directors, when and as they may deem expedient, to increase said capital stock to an amount not exceeding Fifty Thousand ($50,000.00) Dollars; and in like manner to de crease the same, when and as the di rectors may deem expedient, to an amount not less than One Thousand ($1,000.00) Dollars. 6. Petitioners further pray that said corporation be authorized to re ceive in payment for its capital stock real and personal property, and prop erty rights, money, patents, trade marks, formula or other considera tion satisfactory to its directors. 7. The principal place of business of said corporation shall be at Sa vannah, Chatham County, Georgia.
