The well is one of those drilled under the oders of Governor Mar land. The Oklahoma City council fought bitterly to prevent the build ing of derricks on the capitol grounds. LOCAL OPTION FOUND REAL BENEFIT TO DRYS RICHMOND, Va.. June 16—A defi nite increase in dry territory through out the United States as the result of local option was predicted by Dr. Izora Scott of Washington, D. C., legislative chairman of the National W. C. T. U., in an address before the International Order of Kings Daugh ters and Sons gathered for its thir teenth annual convention at Centen ary Methodist Church here. “Local option is coming to be the vital thing in the liquor question,” Dr. Scott declared. The W. T. C. U. she said, is opposing the federal lot tery bill, as well as the law to sell liquor to Indians. The changing standards of ,»our country are largely due to moving pictures, Mrs. Charles A. Menet, past executive secretary and life member of the central council, declared. "We have never had cleaner films,” she said, “yet some are subtly salacious.” She urged the order to join with oth er organipations in helping to raise and maintain the moral standards of movies. She outlined the work of the Finer Films Federation of New Jersey, of which the branch of the King’s Daughters in bhat State is a part.
