PARENTS AND CHILDREN
SOME FATHERS and mothers
guard their children carefully know
ing they are precious.
Other fathers and mothers, just as
fond of their children, let them take
chances, to achieve independence of
character.
Some parents are terribly ups:
when they cateh their little darliir
telling lies.
Others say: ‘ Well, I told lies whe.
I was a kid, you told lies, everybo:':

CLEVELAND, O„ June 19—Zadock
Dumbkopf, the Cicero of Sauerkraut
Center, today bolted the Republican
party. Zadok came to this decision
after a one-hour caucus with him
self in a telephone booth.
» • •
He had the receiver unhooked
to prevent any long distance
heckling.
• * •
‘‘The G. O. P. have had their
chance”, thundered Dumbkopf, in an
nouncing his decision. “I'm through.
You’d think my platform was made
of celophane the way the Republicans
can’t see it."
Dumbkopf's announcement
stunned the convention hall into
such silence you could have heard
the Atlantic battle fleet firing a
broadside.
...
Zadok then called a press confer
ence attended by two barkeeps, 13
bar flies and Thomas Jefferson, in
four colors, artist unknown, position
ed just above where the free lunch
counter used to be in the good old
days.

Stewart’s View
Another world war is simmering
certainly.
The militarists’ attitude that the
country must be prepared against it
is justifiable, perhaps.
But I do not like the hint that
there must be preparation against
American workers. In general they
are a very conservative class. The at
tempt to drive them to radicalism is
conservatively “cuchoo.”
