ENDS IN PRISON

28 year-old farmwime and her hill
billy sweetheart started serving sen
tences of 30 years each in prison to
day. They were convicted of the
murder of 60-year-old Dan Shine.
The victim's young wife confessed
she took part in plotting the murder.
Mrs. Shine an dher husband were
married only eight days before he
was murdered.
State prosecutors suceeded in ob
taining a prison sentence for both
Mrs. Shine and her harmonica play
ing friend, Maynard Lenox, who is
only 18 years old. Lenox was found
guilty of shooting the farmer so that
he and Mrs. Shine could be married.

bureau this year involved equipment
failures, compared with less than 4
per cent in 1927 and 1928-
"Too often,” Paterson added, “the
railroads attempt to place the blame
for accidents on employes, rather
than to determine and correct the
cause. I even note instances in which
an employe is disciplined because he
is Injured.”
DOCTORS EXAMINATION

PROVINCETOWN, Mass., July 7
(TP)—Two doctors will examine Mrs.
Francis todaj' to find out if she is
well enough to be evicted from her
home. Mrs. Francis is 68 years old.
She lias been living in her combina
tion store and home despite couijt or
ders requiring her removal.
She went to bed and stayed there
while workmen removed the windows,
the doors and the furniture from the
house. The case was continued until
tomorrow, pending the physicians ex
amination to see just how sick Mrs.
Francis is.
