Mrs. Harold Hotte Attends Wedding
Os Miss Milhollin At Rites In Rome
The marriage last Wednesday of
Miss Antionette Milhollin ard Hoyt
Sessions, which was solemnized in
Rome, Oa., is of interest here as the
bride has often visited here as the
guest of Mrs. Harold Hotte, who went
to Rome for the wedding. Miss Mil
hollin and Mrs. Hotte attended Shor
ter college in Rome together.
The marriage took place at 5:30
o'clock at the home of Miss Milhol
lin’s parents on Charlton road in
the presence of a large number of
friends and relatives of the couple.
Rev. O. L. Millican, the bride's
uncle, read the beautiful ring mar
riage service.
The couple stood before an impro
vised altar formed before the man
tel of smllax, studded with cluster.*
of white bridesmaid's phlox and
lighted by cathedral tapers burning in
handsome crystal candelabra, the
same used at the marriage of the
bride’s parents.
The nuptial music was rendered by
Mrs. Horton Askew and Mrs. W. B.
Broach.
Mrs. E. W. Farrar, of Shelbyville,
Tenn., was her cousin's maid of honor
and was gowned in orchid organza
made on princess lines. Deep purple

ribbon formed her sash. Her flowers
were an arm bouquet of pink roses
tied with pink satin ribbon.
Miss Annie Laurie Milhollin, junior
bridesmaid, wore a pink dress of em
broidered organdy tied at the waist
with chiffon velvet ribbon in a rose
shade. She carried a bouquet of pink
roses and orchid sweet psas tied with
orchid satin ribbon. A garland of
flowers was worn in her har.
The maid of honor, Miss Madelyn
Buckles, of Lakeland, Fla., wore a
gown fashioned like that of the ma
tron of honor but in a soft shade of
blue with a deeper shade of blue vel
vet at the waist. Matching sandals
completed the costumes of both. Miss
Buckles carried an arm bouquet of
yellow roses tied with yellow satin
ribbon •
The bride descended the stairway
to be met at the foot by her father
who escorted her to the altar where
they were met by the groom and his
best man, Max Sessions, his brother.
She was never lovelier than in her
mother's wedding dress of ivory crepe,
fashioned tunic style with an ivory
silk lace yoke an;l sleeves of the same
lace. The lace continued from the
yoke in a panel to the hem. Seed
pearls edged the lace. The train was
built in from the waist. From a cap
of rose-point lace made in halo effect
fell the soft folds of ivory illusion
tulle worn by her mother at her wed
ding. She carired her mother’s wed
ding handkerchief and her flowers
were a shower bouquet of gardenias
and lilies of the valley, tied with white
satin ribbon.
Immediately following wedding
there was a brilliant reception and
later in the evening Mr. and Mrs.
Session left on a motor trip to New
York and Canada. Mrs. Sessions
traveled in a dark blue crepe with a
matching chiffon blouse. Her acces
sories were of navy blue and with
this ensemble she wore a corsage of
pink carnations and sweet peas.
On their return from their wed
ding tri? they will reside in a new
home that is now being completed on
Sherwood road.

Sally Says
About Society
With various columnists commenting on the lull in social
activities due to the extreme heat, we quote the following from
Polly Peachtree, which are truly our sentiments and quite cover
the annual problem. She says: “When we write our book on why
the majority of society reporters are ’teched in the haid’, we
shall devote one entire chapter to summer’s inevitable lull. Fur
thermore, we shall trace its effect from late June, when we be
gin dreading it, to late September, when we are still recuperat
ing.
“Then you will understand why we get positively quivery
when you entertain at a party or have a visitor. ‘Visitor’ is a
pretty glamorous word to one who watches the social calendar
become weak and wan. It has the rejuvenating effect of cham
pagne and has been known to inspire a festive whirl worthy of
the official social season.”
“Possibly we have been saved from complete despair by the
fact that we have never known that calendar to actually go un
der. It faints, but miraculously enough, it never fails.”
No one feels like doing formal entertaining these hot days,
and the congenial small groups that meet for a table or two
of contract do not want them in the society notes, for they are
small, so its the visitor who reigns supreme these days, they are
the news. We might add that Polly Peachtree’s little family, who
is visiting here now, Margaret Peavy, is really a very charming
young person and is the center of many of these little parties
that are daily taking place.
So we must thank Polly Peachtree for the topic of our col
umn this week and also for this delightful young person in our
midst.
