The M illiard combination is now in JoiirHboi', but before it reachi I that town Hudgins hung the bill* on the walls ami went about mating contracts for hi* combination. Hud gin* i* a small young man of pleasant address, and as lie mingled with the Jonesboro people he made a favora ble iinpicasion an 1 some friend* On Monday before Hudgins left Jonesboro for Atlanta, Mr. J. H. McElroy, a merchant, asked him to handle |MS for him, and thi* i* what caused Hudgins* arrest. Mi McElroy wanted some revenue stamps, and although lie had know n Hudgins but a day or two, he believed that he would run no risk in giving Hudgins the money and asking him to invest it in stamp* ami *end them back. Hudgins agreed to transact the busi ness for the merchant, and accepted the money. Ib< came to Atlanta Monday, but instead of buying the stamp* and sending them back, went arid got drunk When under the mflueace of the liquor Hudgins foigot hi* com mission and amused himself playing pool and riding about. The pool playing ami the cm i mg, * cost money, but Hudgin* cheerfully paid the bi.ls, tnd io each debt was liquidated Mr. McElroy's bundle decreased. Luts Monday night Hudgin* went to hi* .hotel and went to bed, but a* ho was untiring a dozen detectives were look ing for him. Mr. McElroy expected his slumps s<u the afternoon down liam, but sxben two trains passed and neither fanlight any leturn* from Hudgin*. M.i McElroy became alnrmcd, and hairing up Marshal Ran, reqilCated him to telegraph to Chief Connolly, asking for Hudgins's arrest. The marshul quickly sent the following massage Jwasnoso, (in.
