Tho work commences in November,
when the boxing of the tree logins, tho
loxes, which iuo cut Hoping hack into
the trees about a foot from the ground,

are cornered; that is, a chip is taken iu
on both sides just above tho ends of

once a week during tho dripping season

Tho dripping of the crude into barrel,
begins about tho middle of March, and
tho boxes are emptied seven or eight
times during tho season. They hold
from ono to two quarts each, and from

first year’s dripping is culled “virgin,’*
tho second "yeiirlitig" and all after “old
stuff." From eight barrels of crudethcy
get. two of spirits of turpoutiuo and llvo

there are several gnules: W. W., “water
white;” W. G., “window gbss;" JI.,
next In'glii st, and so on up the nlphalict,
but down in quality, to A, Hie letter J
being omitted. The first drippings, if
not scorched in Hilling, make beautifully
white transparent resin; hence tlio name
