Will it ever rain ? Our prophet predicts none until Christmas. A-a-a-m, pic dust is almost beyond endurance. Still the building boom rages and’ ere long the ring of hammers and the roaring of the forgo will be heard from the windows of the shop of Capt. W. J. IL, which is row being erected on West Broad street. Will Homo one be so kind us to give the following information: young man from Tudorville, while en. route for the homo of his best girl,, received tho untimely baptismal bath, arrayed in his Sunday duds beneath tho placid waters of the Uchee a few days rince ? At a negro meeting a few nights ago some of the sisters were seized by the good spirit, uh they call it.—- They were all down at prayer, when, all once, one of them bounced up, ut tered a squeal and fell back length wise on the floor, fairly jarring the foundation of tho temple. This was repeated time and again. The fall was enough to knock a common man senseless. As they would fall two or three would gather and hold them till tho good brother groaned amen, when tho good spirit seemed to take its flight. Great preparations are being made for the annual campmeeting which convenes next Sunday. The high hat parson urged the sisters to bring along the corn dodgers for dinner, but to bring the fried chicken to his tent. Your humble Zip went on an ex ploring expedition to the famous Rock Spring, near Clantons summit, a few days ago. Though the capital ist had been there trying to impreg nate it with iron and succeeded to a certain extent, they never freed it from the accumulating moss, and we would advise them to simply “lick their calf once more.” Mrs. J N. Heggie has returned from Number Three where she has been visiting relatives and friends several weeks. The article in Tuesday's ieme from the pen of our true and tried friend, Jerc Smith, is the subject of much comment. I, too, think thatit is high time that tho farmers were uniting and striving to devise some plan by which to protest themselves from other organizations. The mechanics have clubs, the merchants, the factory men and all classes of people have or ganizations to protect themselves and to skin the fanners. Thou, why can't the farmer, the very backbone of thq ‘Universe, have one, too ? '■J Xbfe*
