EDITORIAL NOTES.
Os course it is still in session—the
Georgia Legislature.
Even the Macon Telegraph speaks
a good word occasionally about Gov.
Gordon.
New corn sk>l<l at 70 cents per
bushel on the streets of Gainesville
last week.' .
It is rumored that H. W. Grady
has invited W. C. Benet, of South
Carolina, to make an addrees during
the Exposition in Atlanta.
According to the decision of the
Ordinary of Fulton county another
election will be held on the prohibi
tion question on November 30th.
John W, Grogan, a car inspector
■who became tired of life, committed
(suicide in Atlanta a few days ago by
banging himself in a car with a l>e 1

The new school building is the ob
ject of admiration by every visitor to
•the Sylvan City, and especially is the
workmanship commented upon fa
vorably.
An exchange aays: John Jackson,
rwho was trying to point out some
•criminals in Albany, was shot down
’by twoimen supposed to be Ed. Baily.
•white, and Starling Taylor, negro.
Encouraging reports concerning
•the fish and squirrel business inspire :
ma with an inclination to visit Brier
-creek at early day, which will be done
•provided we can secure the, company
•Columbia's champion fisherman, who
dost his laurels last spring.
"Straws show which way the wind
blows,'' ami so do certain leanings of
the Atlanta Constitution indicate
which way that paper stands on the
prohibition question, and we think if
the “chip" is thrown up for “wet or
dry" the aforesaid Constitution will
turn cp wet.
While we do not understand the
subject well enough to endorse the
policy of the Augusta Gazette alto
gether on the tariff question, we are
in full accord with that journal in ex
posing corruption in high places. In
this respect the Gazette in on the
right hue aud most nobly is it stand
ing there.
The Anarchist* of New York have
issued a proclamation which him
been made public. It urges Ameri
can workers not to remain silent and
submit to the decision of the Su
preme Court of Illinois in affirming
the decision of the court below, which
amounts to cariying the death sen
tence against the Chicago Anarchists
into effect. It is a docume it intend
ed tosellaw and order aside and bears
the aspect of blood Well,as it is in far
off' Illinois, we don't expect to trouble 1
ourselves about it.
EOOM ZCE IMPROVEMENT
Harlem is a healthy town in everv
mpect save one: It shows signs of
financial indiapoeition and a want of
business thrift in the way of adver
tising. Now, if some one will “speak
out in the meeting" and allege this
against s majority of business men in
thia place we will second the charge.
Mid at the same time supplement the '
same by saying that all other places
of business in the county have the
same disease to an alarming extent.
Wake up, fellow citizens, there is
room for improvement.
IS WOOLFOLZ THE MAN?
Cob Frank It Walker, the attorney
for Icm Woolfolk, who is confined in
Fulton county jail under the charge
of killing nine of the Woolfolk family
near Macon, baa recently bad an in
terview with an escaped convict, Jack
Deboae, now confine 1 in Canton, in
which enough leaked out to convince
Col. Walker that the negro, essisted
by three others, were the parties v ho
done the wholesale killed. If
such should prove to lie the case aud
after investigation Tom Woolfolk is
declared innocent it will be a great
surprise doubtless to the j eoplc of
the entire State.
Stop at the Mark him during
the Piedmont Exposition.
