S. Prather went to Augusta last week to enter ! the Medical College. Ho carries [ with him the best wishes of his many friends for success in life. —The monotony of the town was broken on Tuesday evening when the caravan arrived, which brought out the town en masse to witness the performance of four bears. Really we did not know the | opulation of i the town was so great until then. — I There was no circus attached and as a matter of course everybody could go. The performance was interspers ed with the usual collection. My Little Girl ' Had a dreadful and very alarming 1 cough, that at one time after trying i every prescription we teared from her not receiving any benefit that serious I results would fodow. Wednesday last was regular month ly meeting of the farmers at their i club house, about midway between Harlem ami Appling. The attend i ance was unusually large and enthu siastic in the cause of agriculture.— The day was consumed in the trans action of business which hail accu mulated during the past three months. We failed to have a quorum in September, and the October meet ing was called in on account of the Piedmont Exposition, and, too, al our November meeting the Constitu tion provides for the election of ofli- ■ cers for the ensuing year, that con sumed the afternoon and the discus sion was deferred until 2n 1 Wednes day in December. The dinnet was ■ superb ami in lavish abundance, eon - ■ sitting of line fresh fish, delicious ‘ oysters, ham, good bread and coffee. ! Dinner being rather late, together • with appetites whetted keenly by the savory smell from the frying pan and the aroma from the coffee pot, caqs ed the viands to disappear rapidly.— s All seemed delighted with the day and we hope interest will increase and , grow with the growth and strengthen 1 VOL VI NO 11 with the stjenqth of the club and finally result in a fair next fall to be held in Harlem that will do honor to gram! old Columbia and her noble, intelligent and progressive farmers. We can do it. “In unity there is strength.” So let lus pull ' together and success will crown our efforts. — The exhibits of Hancock and Monroe comities were indeed creditable and shows what industry and enterprise properly applied will accomplish.— Wo can compete with those counties.
