Hull Bridge.
Wo can't imagine why a certain
gentleman felt called upon to take to
himself the article that appeared in
last Tuesday’s issue of the Sentinel.
V.'e did not call upon him
to look after the condition of
the road at the bridge. We were not
aware of the fact that he had anything
to do with the bridge and would like
to know if ho is one of the road com
missioners or an overseer of the road.
We did not attack x the bridge or its
mechanical construction, but the con
dition of the road at the east end of
said bridge, where (here is a perpen
dicular drop of five or six inches,
making it as wc stated dangerous for
vehicles to pass over. Il was in bad
condition on Monday of last week, as
we can substantiate and unless it has
been fixed since then, is in bad con
dition and needs attention.
In the Slate House.
Our representatives under the heat
of discussion, on going out catches
cold, contracts a cough, hoarseness
and pain in the chest and throat fol

There will be an oyster supper and,

Ono night last week while two
brothers by the mime of Jenkins,
living near Saw Dust, were out hunt
ing they succeeded in baying a 'pos
sum in a log and while the oldest
brother was cutting into the log the
other attempted to pass him, but his
foot slipped, causing him to fall un
der the blade of Iho ax, which split
his skull open and caused a small
portion of his Mains to exude. Dr.
D. L. Peeples was called nt once to
see him and undci his skillful treat
ment, strange to say, the little follow
is still ahvo and doing remarkably
well.

The many friends and acquaint
ances of Mrs. O. E. Carmichael, sister
of our townsman, C. B Hicks, will ixj
pained to learn of her death in
Grcencsboro on Saturday night of
last week. She was a tender, devoted
loving mother and an abiding neigh
bor and friend and to-day is enjoying
the fruits of a well spent life out be
yond the stars.
