This happy state ot' affairs lias not been brought about without a struggle on the part of the sive citizens. A number of the old timers, who “love things as they were afore the war” opposed the new order of things, especially local taxa tion, but we have carried 7 districts, and I believe that in another year every district in the county will go for file local tax. But considered only mini a mate rial point of view, this new order of things has enhanced the value oi real estate 100 per cent. Laud 8 to 10 miles from McDonough will bring $;(5 per acre, and lands near the towns have recently sold for $08 pir acre.
