—The Hartwell Sun is the most
neutral paper we have yet heard of.

—A great multitude of the people
of Augusta witnessed the hanging
of the largo Norwood and Stephen’s
banner across Broad street in that
city a few nights since. The inscrip¬

ism,”

—Our foreman left us on last
Monday, and since that time all the
responsibilities of the office have de¬
volved upon our little son, who has
only three months experience in the
printing business. Therefore our
fair-minded readers will excuse all
deficiencies in this issue. We ran
up to Macon and brought down a
first-class printer yesterday, so next
week everything will he done up
“ Iiromi ,” and the Rkcordkr will
come to time in its usual and attrac¬
tive style.
Mr. W. A. Tompkins, of the
Uiightsvillc Rkcorukk, paid a fly¬
ing visit to Dublin Monday afternoon
in search of a printer. lie is now
learning the lesson that all country
town editors have to master. Rut

ble, and we hope with less expense
than we had during the infancy of

It is with sorrow we announce the
death of one of our Ijest and most
highly esteemed citizens, Mr. James
I*. Jordan, who died at his residence
in Johnson county on Monday last,
Mr. Jordan \Vas one of our most
worthy citizens, and was possessed
of those sterling qualities that gain¬
ed for him the admiration and es¬
teem of all with whom he wa»
a<*< piaintcd. lie was of a modest
and unassuming disposition, and
“did unto others as he would have
them to do unto him.”
He leaves an affectionate wife and
a large circle of friends to mourn his
loss. In his death Johnson county
has sustained the loss of a good cit¬
izen,society a perfect gentleman, and
his wife a kind husband. To his be¬
reaved companion we tender out
heart felt sympathies.

said county, and said Commissioners hav¬
ing made their report making the Little
Ohoopie river the district line, commencing
at (lie Washington county line, and run
ning to Holly Hammock'at the Emanuel
county line. These arc therefore to notify
all persons concerned that said new District
lias been laid dm making a new District on
the cast side ol said Ohoopie and order
