Valuable Property Out West
Worth Looking After.
The Macon Telegraph and Messen¬
ger is in receipt of a communication
from Mr. Win. 11. Thomas, attorney
at law, Ilnena Vista, Colorado. The
author requests Georgia papers to
copy his letter. It is as follows;
“Buena Vista, Coi.., February 11 .
—Editor Telegraph and Messenger
—There died at this place about two
months ago a man by the name of
M. L. Westbrook. lie was from
Georgia, though had been in the
West for some years. He owned at
the time of his death sonic valuable
mining property in this vicinity.
Among other mining claims,he own¬
ed a half interest in the ‘Lone Geor¬
gia,’ which was discovered and loca¬
ted by him. I have not as yet beer,
able to learn anything of his history
or name more than that given above,
and that he was very reticent, and
never had anything to say in regard
to his p ist life—not to his mostt in
timate friend ). lie once told Mr.
Tom Campbell, who, by the way,
lias been appointed administrator on
bis estate, that he had a wife and
children in Georgia, but afterwards
denied if, and said lie only made the
representation for the purpose of ob¬
taining money due him on a settle¬
ment. There is one thing certain,
his mining property here is valuable
and worth looking after, and I write
this, trusting that you will give it a
place in your paper, and that oth* r
papers throughout the State will do
the same; and in this manner it mat
each some of his relatives or heir,
who are entitled to his property, and
will be benefited by it.
Very respectful’y.
“Wm. B. Thomas
“P. S.—As to who I am, I would
refer you to Mayor W. A. Hull, Col.
C. A. Nulting, Mr. J. M. Boardiuan,
or Mr. T. Guernsey, of Macon. My
address is William B. Thoriias,
Buena Vista, Chaffer county,Colora¬
do, P. O. box 143.”
“Inclosed,” says the Telegraph ,
“we find the following clipping from
a Colorado paper:
“A mill run at Denver last week
of ore from the Lone Georgia Mine,
on Walker Hill, returned fifty-four
dollars, silver. It is a fact that
$15,000 has been refused for a half
interest in this mine.”

Newly Married Couples.
It is the happiest and most virtuous
state of society in which the hus¬
band and wife set out together, make
their property together, and perfect
sympathy of soul graduate all their
expenses, plans, calculations, and de¬
sires, with reference to their future
and common interest.
Nothing delights man moie than
to enter the neat little tenement of
the young people who. within two or
three years, without any resources
but their own knowledge of industry,
have joined heart and hand, and en¬
gaged to share together the responsi¬
bilities, duties, interests, trials, and
pleasures of life. The industrious
wife is cheerfully employing her
hands in domestic duties, putting her
house in order, or mending her hus¬
band’s clothes, or preparing dinner,
while perhaps the little darling sits
prattling on the floor, or lies sleeping
ir the cradle, and everything seems
preparing for the best of fathers
when he shall pome home from
toil to enjoy the sweets of bis
paradise.
This is true domestic pleasure.
Health, contentment, love, abun¬
dance, and bright prospects are all
here. But it has become a
sentiment that a man mu 6 t
his fortune before be marries;
the wife must have no
nor share with him in the pursuit
it, in which most of the
truly consists,and the young
people must set out with as
and expensive an establishment as is
becoming those who have been
wedded for twenty years. This is
unhappy; it fills the community with
bachelors, endangering virtue, pro¬
moting vice; it destroys the true
economy and design of the domestic
institution, and it promotes ineffi¬
ciency among females, who are ex¬
pecting to be taken up by fortune,
and passively sustained without any
care or concern on their part, and
thus many a wife becomes, as a gen¬
tleman once remarked, not a “help¬
mate,” but a “help-beat.”
