iiuself a candidate for Senator of
the Kith Senatorial District. We
'■■ave li. on personally acquaintee with
Col. Guyton for many years, and
have ever found him to be a model
specimen of a gentleman. And high
ly congratulate the people of the
Kith Senatorial district in being able
to place such a worthy candidate be

being able at present, to say as much
on this subject as we would wish
therefore we propose noticing the

- Wori. is going on rapidly on
the Parsonage. The erection of so
many new houses in our town, adds
considerable to the looks of things.
An Eloquent Passage.
It cannot be that earth is man’s
only abiding place. It cannot be
that our life is a buble cast up by
the ocean of eternity to float, a mo
incut upon its waves, and sink into
nothingness. Else, why these high
and gloriouse aspirations which leap
like angels from the temple of our
marts forever wandering unsatisfied?
vVhy is it that tho rainbow and
clouds come over us with a beauty
is not of earth, and then pass off to
leave us to muse on their loveliness?
Why is it that stars which hold their
festival around the midnight throne,
are set above the grasp of our limit¬
ed faculties, forever mocking us with
their unapproachable glory? And
finally, whv is it that the bright
lorm of human beauty are presented
to our view and taken from us, leav¬
ing the thousand streams of affections
to flow back in Alpine torrents upon
our hearts? We were horn for a
higher destiny than earth. There is
a realm where the rainbow never
fades where the stars will be sprea<
out before us like islands that slum
heron the ocean, and where the
beautiful begins that pass befere us
like shadows, will stay forever in
our presence.
