if tlte drouth h&d^continued much
longer the corn crop would have been

The Saboard Air Line Scores An¬
other Point.
Tlte Seaboard Air Line has, for a
long time, contended that as it could
get its sleepers south of Atlanta
north of Washington, while other
lines were allowed this privilege, it
therefore, be allowed a differ¬
rate. This matter was taken up
with the Southeastern Pas¬
Associatian, the Trunk Line
and the Association of
and the Oarolinas, and the
Air Line’s claim for differen¬
was allowed.
The tariffs just published by the
associations show standard rates
all lines between the north and
as well as the differential rate
the Seaboard Air Line, which rate
$3.00 less than that shown by other
lines. The standard rate between
York and Atlanta is' $24; the
differential rate via the Seaboard Air
Line is $21; the rate between Wash¬
ington and Atlanta is $17.50,the dif¬
ferential rate via the Seaboard Air
Line is $11.50. This differential ap¬
plies between all important cities in
the Southwestern Passenger 'Associa¬
tion's territory, the Trunk Line Asso¬
ciation territory.
The Seaboard Air Line now has the
matter up with the New England Pas¬
senger publishing Association, looking to tile
of these differential rates
in their tariffs. As soon as this is
granted it is understood that the Sea¬
board Air Line will then goto the
Mississippi Passenger Association
with a request that that they publish
like rates from their territory. When
this is done the Seaboard Air Line
will have a differential on all business
which it is competitor for, east of the
Mississippi.—Portsmouth Star.
