Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto
me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of
the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but
my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.—Zechariah 4, vs. 5-6.
The charge by the Russian Communist that Finland is invit
ing war with Russia reminds one of the Fable of the Lamb and
the Wolf. In this case the little lamb too was the aggressor.

Remember that what you possess in the world will be found
at the day of your death to belong to someone else, but what you
are will be yours forever.—Henry Van Dyke.
Perhaps Mussolini has not forgotten a promise which is said
to have been made to him by Hitler . . . Hitler is said to have
promised him that while Austrian government would be made
Nazi, it would remain independent . . . Now Mussolini also seems
to be forgetting his former partner.
The following sign is posted by the roadside as you enter a
western town. It says:
4,076 people died last year of gas.
29 inhailed it.
47 put a lighted match to it.
And 4,000 stepped on it.
The voices of William Shirer from Berlin, Edwin Murrell from
London and Thomas Grandon from Paris have become familiar to
those who listen over radios for news of Europe . . . And there are
millions of listeners . . . From the radio we learn that London gets
its news of Berlin in the same manner that we do . . . The people
of Berlin get no news except what their Dictator is willing for!
them to know.
The City of Flint is not much of a ship as ships are measured,
but for the past few weeks it has been the most important ship
on the seven seas . . . In The United States, Great Britain, France,
Russia, Germany and Norway, this 5000 ton freighter has been
the main subject of conversation ... of the press and of the radio
. . . The chief reason of the importance of the freighter as news
is that it is American owned . . . Boats of other nationalities have
been sent to the bottom, sometimes with loss of life, but when a
boat of Uncle Sam’s becomes involved, the world sits up and takes
notice. (
The sympathy of the people of this country for Britain and
France is not because they were formerly our allies and Germany
our enemy, but because they have pledged their aid to the weaker
nations, the under-dogs of Europe. On the other hand, Hitler has
been the oppresser of minorities in his own country, even before]
he started annexing his weak neighbors.
The school teachers of Georgia have received a hand-out from'
the Highway fund and some scraps from the State Tobacco’ Tax
fund . . . Neither was substantial . . . and the first will have to be
repaid. The teachers of Georgia or any other state are the most
important public servants. They should not be expected to carry
on with hand-outs and scraps, and no state official should be paid
before they are.
