An Oil Well That Is Bound To |
Bring Big Things To Our City |
* As Mayor of the City of Pembroke we know |
that today our little City is setting right on top |
of “an oil well” aad that soon it will begin to |
gush and prosperity will be on the way. We know
in our own mind that the year 1968 will be by |
far the biggest year in the history of our little
"City. |
We are going to grow and grow, we are going |
to have housing very soon, sewerage is just
around the corner, and we will have at least three |
or four new plants located in Pembroke and em- |
ploy every one that wants to work, and bring in |
pz2ople for miles to Pembroke, who should zm(l?‘
will spend much of their money here. ;
Now this is not day dreaming but facts. |
You can’t employ four or five high priced |
workmen in Pembroke and it sot mean much to |
our little City. The Mayor is in position to know |
what he is talking about. Prosperity is just |
around the corner. Our one regret is that we are |
“an old man” with the opportunity to do much :
for our litt' -ity, and have so little time to do |
it in, for when you get along to 75 years old, we |
know that we are nearing Northside Cemetery,
like an automobile going down hill without any |
brakes. Yes, we realize that at the best our time |
is short, but we have said many times that we [
wanted to die at work, or going or returning |
from work. l
We have no desire for every day to be Sunday, |
nothing to do but watch the sun rise and set. |
There will be others that will go on with the |
program that we have gotten started with the |
100 percent aid of the finest Council we have ever
had, and friends lat believe in Pembroke and
Bryan County who are willing to work for and !
if necessary spend their money to do things for |
our little city.
