We went on April 24,
1970. Our bus driver
was Mrs. Glisson.
We left school about
9:30 and played records
all the way down there.
We were accompanied
by Mrs. Gloria Cribbs,

Mrs. Pat Sikes, and
Mrs. Rita Morris. At
approximately 11:00 we

Fort McAllister is lo

of the Great Ogeechee
River on Genesis Point.
It was built in 1861 and
was captured on De
cember 13, 1864 by Gen

The fort has mounds
with tunnels running
through them. The mu
seum has guns, cannons,
bullets, and uniforms
used in the war. It
even has the same
Confederate flag that
flew over the fort. It’s
a very interesting and
historical place.
Approximately 12:30,
we left the fort. We
went to a store and got
cold drinks, then we
went to a Bryan County
Park and ate lunch.
On the way back we
mostly sang, played re
