Bridges Story, 84, died
Friday, May 22, at the
Memorial Medical Cen
ter in Savannah after a
brief illness.
A native of Crisp
County, Mrs. Story had
lived in Lanier for the
last 28 years. She was
a member of the Acron
Baptist Church and the
widow of John L. Story.
Surviving are three
daughters, Mrs. Eva
Lois Stubbs of Lanier,
Mrs. Nella De Loach of
Savannah, and Mrs.
Caroline Stow of Pensa
cola, Fla; seven grand
children; four great
grand children; and se
veral nieces and nep
hews.
Funeral services we
re held Sunday, May 24
at 3 p.m. at the Acron
Pond Baptist Church in
Warwick. Services were
conducted by Rev. Bob

Slightly Higher
Than Last Year
Despite the fact that
thousands more cars
traveled millions more
miles in the state, Geor
gia’s traffic death toll
during the first four
months was only slightly
higher than a year,
ago.
The comparative to
tals were 532 this year
and 530 last year, ac
cording to a State Patrol
report released by Col
R.H. Burson, director
of the Georgia Depart
ment of Public Safety.
There were 1,745,644
motor vehicles re
gistrations recorded
this year, an increase
106,885 over 1969’sfirst
four months. These
cars and trucks traveled
a total of 9,709,481,487
miles, an increase of
588,766,132 miles.
