Winding up Pensions.
Of the state’s pension fund of
$870,000 for the current year
there is just $32,000 left in the
treasury. All the counties have
been paid, and there now re¬
main only the indigent widows
for wljom the fund was exhaust¬
ed before they were all paid,
and a number of stragglers on
the other rolls who for various
reasons have not received their
money. Jt will require about
$18,000 to pay the remaining in¬
digent widows, and various other
pensioners will be paid from $8,-'
000 to 810,000. Even with this
the pension fund will not be en¬
tirely exhausted, and there will
be something like $5,000 to $6,
000 to turn back into the general
fund of the treasury.— Constitu¬

Colds cause Pneumonia!
One of the most remarkable cases of a
cold, deep-seated on the lungs, causing
pneumonia, is that of Mrs. Gertrude E.
Fenner, Marion, Iud. who was entirely
cured by the use of One Minute Cough
Cure. She. says: “The coughing and
straining so w eakened me that I ran down
in weight from 148 to 02 pounds. I tried
a number of remedies to no avail until I
used One Minute Cough Cure. Four bot¬
tles cured me entirely of the cough,
strengthened my lungs and restored me
to my normal weight, health and
strength.” Sold by Lewis Drug Co.
Taking the Bist Way.
Some things will make a differ¬
ence some day—if not now.
There is a best way to do most
of the common duties of life, even
though they seem to accomplish
just as satisfactory results in
another way. In the addressing
of a letter, for instance, it is bet
ter to do it in a mode most ac¬
commodating to the postal ser¬
vice- “I’m not afraid but that
the letter will get there way all
right,” said a youth, on being in¬
formed of a better way to ad¬
dress it That is not the ques¬
tion. No doubt the letter would
carry. But the habit of thinking
that things wdl do any way is
one of the pressages of failure in
life. The habit of caring for
best way is the habit that leads
to success. The thing of to-day
is small; the habit it forms is
great.—Sunday School Times.
