Mitchell County.
At a meeting of the Commissioners of
Roads and Revenues for said county,
held on the 8th day of March, 1904, the
following order was duly passed: Mitchell
WHEREAS, The interest of
Countv imperatively jail, properly require equipped, the erec¬
tion of a new in
said countv, the interest of the tax pay -
ers of said county may he best served by
the issuing of bonds with which to se¬
cure funds to build and equip such jail
in an amount not to exceed Fifteen
Thousand Dollars (#15,000.). Now there

ing such bonds of said county' be sub¬
mitted to the qualified voters therein in
accordance with law, and that the no¬
tice of election shall be in the following
form, and said notice to be published sheriffs ad- m

on the 30th day of Apnl 1904. .Notice
of said election to be posted at the polls
for each precinct for four consecutive

NOTICE OF ELECTION.
To The Qualified Voters of Mitchell
County.
Notice is hereby given that on the 20tli
day of April, 1904. an election will be
held in the county of Mitchell, at which
will be submitted to the qualified voters
of said Countv for their determmation
the. question whether bonds shall be is¬
sued by said county for the purpose of
providing funds with which to build and
equip a jail in said county. The amount
of said bonds to be Fifteen Thousand
Dollars (#15,000.) which are to bear date
of June 1st, 1904, and bear interest at
the rate of Five per cent, per annum,
payable semi-annually, on the first day
of January and July in each year, the
principal to be paid as follows: live
Hundred Dollars (#500.) on the first of
January 1906, and Five Hundred Dollars
(# 500 .) on the first days of January m
each succeeding year thereafter, up to
and including January 1st, 1933, and One
Thousand Dollars (#1000 ) being the re¬
mainder of said principal, on the first
day of January 1934, when said bonds
are to lie fully paid off. Both principal
and interest .if said bonds to be payable the
in gold coin of the United States of
present standard of weight and fineness.

ing at Peoples’ turpentine still on the
Branehville and Wldgham road and
running in the direction of Pelham and
intersecting the Pelham road east of the
Bay Pole Branch—running through the
lands of People & Co., Geo. Davis, L. M.
Brooks. N. F. Mallard, A. Fowler, J. D.
Cameron, J. E. McElvin, D. F. Scar¬
borough, A. L. Scarborough, B. H.
Brenldey and T. J. Wilder—the propos¬

that on and after the 12th day of Apnl
next said new road will be finally grant¬
ed if no good cause is shown to the con¬

large number of the best citizens of
Mitchell county say, “Wo need in the
State Senate tha services of a man who
understands its resources and is active in
its development. We therefore request
that you allow the use of your name as
a candidate for the position of State
Senator in the approaching primary elec¬
tion to be held on April 20th, 1904.”
Having lieen honored with this posi¬
tion in the past; this renewed expression
of confidence coming as ir does from the
people of Mitchell county, where I have
lived and labored for more than thirty
years, imposes on me au obligation
which I cannot ignore, and I therefore
yield to their request to allow the use of
