Janies Have Invested in Albany Dirt. From the Albany Herald. Mr. D. W. James, of Blakely, and Mr. J. L. Hand, of Pelham, yesterday purchased from Mr. M. \V. Tift a tract of thirty acres of land directly north of the city. The land lies west of Oruger & Pace’s brick yard, between the Leesburg public road and the main line of the Central of Geor¬ gia railway. The tract has long been recog. nized as one of the most desirable near Albany as a site for manu factui ing enterprises, and it is un dei stood that Messrs. Hand and James will in all probability have erected on this land at no distant date, a large acid chamber and probably a complete fertilizer plant. The land is touched by thepub lic rogd and the lines of the Cen¬ tral of Georgia and Seaboard Air Line railways. The purchase price has not been made public, but it is understood to have been high. This deal is significant as indi¬ cating what sort of f uture lies be¬ fore Albany. There are not two more successful or better known business men in South Georgia than Messrs. James and Hand, and their readiness to pay a stiff price for Albany dirt proves that their confidence in the future of ^the city is strong. riY STAND Is at the Depot. ■v__I am here to furnish to the Public Brick, Rough and Dressed Lumber At prices that are Fair.
