Some wise and timely reflec¬ tions are found in a recent mag¬ azine article attributed to a clergyman. It discusses late marriages, the avoidance of marriage altogether, and the noticeable aversion to bringing up a family , among a very large class of persons who are restrain¬ ed, by the higher standards of living and the increasing cost of keeping up appearances in the society in which they move. Well worth the serious atten¬ tion of young men and women are such suggestions as the fol¬ lowing. “We seem now to have reached the point where a large number of young men and wo¬ men are ready to sacrifice the thing they do need namely, a pure and healthy domestic life, in the mad and vain endeavor to maintain an artificial standard of living, which has no rational justification in their physical or mental natures, and which is never justified by a realized hap¬ piness which they have dreamed and for which they have longed. But is is a fool who for the sake of more stuff to eat and drink and wear and misuse is willing indefinitely to postpone a pure domestic life. On the other hand he has well nigh mastered the secret of a happy life who marries at the age of twenty*five, what¬ ever his income may be, and who at the same time has the genius to live up the high to spend each year a few dollars Jess than his income, flY STAND Is at the Depot. ■*^1 am here to furnish to the Publi Brick, Rough and Dressed Lumber At prices that are Fair.
