Deafness Cannot be Cured by local applications, as they cannot reach the diseased portion ©f the ear. There is only one way to cure deafness, aud that is by constitutional remedies. Deafness is caused by an inflamed con¬ dition of the mucous Lining of the Eus¬ tachian Tube. When this tube is in¬ flamed you have a rumbling sound or imperfect hearing, aud when it is en¬ tirely closed, deafness is the result, and unless the inflammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be destroyed for¬ ever; nine cases out of ten are caused by catarrh, which is nothing but an in¬ flamed condition of the mucous surfaaes. We will give One Hundred Dollars for any case of Deafness (caused by catarrh } that cannot be cured by Hall’s Catarrh (Cure. Send for circulars. F. J. CHENEY & CO., Toledo, O. The well-known phenomenon of “not giving down” the milk is the result of lack of nervous tone in the glands brought about by some kind of excitement. The udder is not a container in which the milk is ready stored up at milking time, but an organ in which the greater part of the milk is elaborated while milking or suckling is in progress by virtue of the agitation produced. Un¬ less the cow is in perfect repose this secretion will not take place normally. The lesson to be de-„ rived from thisis that the cow should be treated with the great¬ est gentleness and be otherwise kept free from excitement, es sscialiy during the time of milk¬ ing or suckling.—Ex. Chamberlain's Stomach and Liver Tablets Better Than a Lectors Prescription, Mr. J. W. Turner, of Trnhart, Va., says that Chamberlain’s Stomach and Liver Tablets have done him more good than anything he could get from the doctor. If any physician in this country was able to compound a medicine that would produce such gratifying results in cases of stomach troubles, biliousness or constipation, his whole time would be used in preparing this one medicine. The following order, which in¬ creases the salaries of rural mai 1 carriers $120 per annum, and prohibits them from acting as agents for business concerns, has been issued from Washington: “On and after July, 1904, letter carriers of the rural free delivery service shall receive a salary not exceeding §720 per annum, and no further allowance or salary shall be made to said carriers; and on and after said date said carriers shall not sciicit business or receive orders of any kind from any person, firm or corporation, and shall not, during their hours of employment, carry any mer¬ chandise for hire; provided that said carries may carry merchan¬ dise for hire for and upon the re¬ quests of residents upon their res pective routes, whenever the same shall not interfere with the proper discharge of their official duties, and under regulations as the post¬ master general may prescride.” Triumps of Modem Surgery. Wonderful tilings are done for the hu¬ man body by surgery. Organs are ta¬ ken out and scraped and polished and put back, or they may be removed en¬ tirely; bones are spliced; pipes take the place of diseased sections of veins; anti¬ septic dressings are applied to wounds, bruises, burns and like injuries before inflammation sets in, which causes them to heal without maturation and in one third the time required hy the old treat¬ ment. Chamberlain’s Pain Balm acts on this same principle. It is an antisep¬ tic and when applied to such injuries, causes them to heal very quickly. It also allays the pain and soreness. Keep a bottle of Pain Balm in your home and it will save yon time and money, not to mention the inconvenience and suffering which such injuries entail. For sale hy Lewis Drug Co.
